Incisions Horizontal Or Vertical

I had a TAH on Nov. 25th. Have a 6" horizontal incision.

Aside from the "gravity" issue, it was not too bad. Pulled a bit when I stood up and walked.

I think the incision direction is based on how much is going on inside you, what size your uterus is and what the doctor's preference is.

Hugs,
Sarah

incision direction

I have vertical incision because of size of fibroid & uterus plus possiblilty of cancer & dr said it would allow him to look at lymph glands better that way. I do not know which hurts more, but I think horizontal is bette for bikini & with my shape I will not be wearing one, so who cares.

Incisions Horizontal Or Vertical

Hi, I had two previous c-sections 27+ years ago and they were vertical. My doc did hysterecomy horizontal, she said the recovery from the incision horizontal is easier than vertical. So far I think that's true. I don't have any complaints about the external incision. The internal one is the one that aches the most. I had a large fibroid.

I had a very big vertical cut , they do vertical ones if your overweight here in britain, as it happened they found loads of endo so it was easier for them to remove it all.i think horizontal cuts are quicker healing though!!

Incisions

I had a vertical, with 28 staples. Of all the women I know who have had an incision, they all had vertical too. maybe its the way here on the east coast. most of the big hospitals in boston do verticals also. carol
