Hot flashes, headache, dizziness with nausea ?? 2yr 2months later
Hello Sisters,
My surgery was on Nov 4th 2002, TAH BSO.
Experiencing symptoms of surgical menopause.
I have not been on HRT for over a year. Every so often, maybe every 90 days, I experience a huge surge of hot flashes accompanied by headache, dizziness, and nausea ... I felt this way again today and stayed home from work. I took some advil and ate some toast and it is a little better now.
Is this normal, am I alone here?
Thank you all for your time and help!
Tess

Hot flashes, headache, dizziness with nausea ?? 2yr 2months later
Hi ((((Tessa))))) I'm sorry you're having all of these symptoms
I kept my ovaries, after my TVH, but am now heading into natural menopause, at 48. Because my doctor is reluctant to prescribe HRT, I'm using supplements to manage my menopausal symptoms. However, I also do get these surges of annoying symptoms, including the dizzyness and nausea, every once in a while.
Have you mentionned these symptoms to your doctor? There may be something that you could do to help manage the symptoms, without adversely affecting your health. I've been using Black Cohosh, Evening Primrose Oil, Gingko Biloba, Ginseng, Calcium and Magnesium and Glucosamine and have found that the majority of my symptoms are effectively managed.
Sending lots of s your way. I do hope that you find answers, and relief, very soon. Please, do keep us posted.

Hot flashes, headache, dizziness with nausea ?? 2yr 2months later
I am 41yrs. old. Had a total vaginal hysterectomy (no ovaries left) 2 1/2 yrs. ago (May will be 3 yrs.). I was unable to handle any sort of HRT. My symptoms on the patch (Premerin and Viverelle??) were the following: night sweats, hot flashes, heart palpitations, migraines, nausea, depressed and mood swings. All of which I was supposed to NOT do.
I have only been able to take Estroven (over the counter) since the middle of that summer. It has worked very well with absolutely NO symptoms up until Sept. 2004. Since that time, HOT flashes, vaginal dryness, slight nausea, mood swings and depression have appeared and thus increased gradually.
I am guessing that I am in surgical menopause?? My Dr. said to me recently when I went to ask him what are my options, "you should have had these symptoms for the past 2 years being off of HRT". He admitted that he did not really know what to do with me, except the usual patches, etc. He suggested using a compound pharmacist. I'm not opposed to trying that route. My hesitation is the symptoms I will get with just a little HRT (the main one being migraines). Should I try the low dose patch first just to be able to tell the pharmacist what I can/can't handle?
I definately feel ALONE! and, depressed!! My other hyster friends don't have my strange problems! Of course, that was how my menstrual cycles/pregnancy went, too!
Very frustrated and looking for the answer to why would this occur 2+ years LATER! I was sooooo happy with my hyster. and am only now starting to regret it!!!

griner,
I am sorry you are having the hot flashes now after all this time. I guess your stored estrogen that was stored in your cells in your body finally depeleted themselves.
Maybe you could try another over the counter product and see if you need to change to a different formula.
If you need some input on hrt you might want to post your question over in the Hormone Jungle where ladies over there have a lot more experience with hrt.
My mother-in-law who never had a hyst experienced hot flashes and went through the change at around 42. It can be rough even when one goes through naturally and could be earlier than we think.
Try not to be depressed, maybe a low dose hrt will be what will work. Don't give up, there are a lot of different brands and dosages out there.

Hot flashes, headache, dizziness with nausea ?? 2yr 2months later
I just wanted to say you are not alone. I too have periodic bouts with nausea and dizziness. The other day at work i became nauseated and dizzy and finally had to go home early. I even went to the gym and walked on the treadmill thinking that might help but it didn't. Fortunately it went away after a couple days. I've had a couple other episodes usually with hotflashes.
