Need Input please!!!

I am new here and have discovered a lot of helpful info. Let me tell you my story up to this point. In 1994 I was diagnosed with cervical dysplasia. Before they had run all their test they were talking possible hysterectomy. I begged them to do it then. I was having some very extremely painful periods. But they didn't listen they decided to do cryosurgery instead. Now almost 11 years later and 11 years of extremely painful periods they have now diagnosed me with fibroids and say that they should be able to do a hysterectomy if that is what I want. When I had my last period I wrote down all the pain killers I was taking and at what times. I took 18 Naproxen sodiums, 2 at a time 440mg total each dose in less than 24 hours on the first day. I tried several other pain killers which didn't help either. I spent years complaining to the drs about the pain. I am not afraid to have the surgery. But what I want to know is about the recovery. I live on a small farm and have animals that depend on me. I have a home that depends on me. I do have a husband and son that I know will do everything in their power to be helpful but I am not used to being waited on. This is the only part of the whole thing that I am not so sure of.

Monday I go also to have a lump removed from my right breast. I have fibrocystics disease and sometimes the lumps get painful. This is the second on I have had removed.

I go on February 7 to gyn about hysterectomy. Hoping they will schedule for very soon. I am not looking forward to another month of pain.

I don't want to look forward to this pain for another 10 or 15 years. I am 40 years old.

Hi there!!! Welcome to the forum!!!!

Wow.... I can really sympathize with the pain killer thing... it seemed that no matter what (or how much) I took, it didn't touch the pain.

As for the recovery time.... Please try your best to rest up.... I have a hard time not doing it all myself too, but I'm going to try my best! If we don't, it can get so much worse.... making the recovery time so much longer. From what I understand, we won't feel like doing much for the first week or two. After you do feel up to it, just take it slow... take a slow walk out to see your animals (with DH there for support), have your son bring you laundry to fold.... Most of all, listen to your body.
