losing weight

I had my surgery 2 years ago. I have been unable to loose weight especially around my middle. I am walking 2-3 miles per day. Any suggestions?

Your metabolism takes a big hit when you undergo this surgery. If you can, try aerobics to bring it up. Walking is great, but sometimes it takes more than that - - at least it does for me.

Metabolic rate naturally starts to slow down once you're past 40 and either you decrease your caloric intake, or you increase your exercise just to stay at the same level. Increasing your metabolism increases your body's efficiency in burning and using calories, necessary if you want to lose weight.

I find pilates works wonders on my middle (I use DVD's at home). Good luck!

Keb is right. As we age we loose muscle and thus our metabolism slows down. To counteract that you have to increase your muscle mass through weight training. Things like yoga and pilaties which use body weight also help.

Good luck
