Qestion about tummy support?

Has anyone out there found something like spandex shorts or an exercise garment that gave good tummy control? My incision is healing really well and I would love something not too tight that would help support my belly. The swelling has gone down alot but I am wearing my jammies still and I want something to wear under. Don't need a pillow anymore (6 days out) but I would like some support. I walked about 2/10 of a mile today and it would have felt better if I had something to help hold my tummy in. Thanks for your suggestions in advance. Christy

Qestion about tummy support?

I wore a Hanes spandex extra-high-waisted granny panty for the first 2 weeks after surgery. I loved it.

Qestion about tummy support?

Hi!

Congratulations on your hyster success! It sounds like you're doing well for being so early in your recovery. As for belly support, did they use a surgical binder on you in the hospital? I was given one right after my TAH/BSO and it was a real treasure! It provided support when I got up to walk around, and it was easily adjustable. I could wear it higher or lower, depending on where the support need was greater. I tried a panty girdle after about four weeks, but found that it was too constricting. The binder was my best friend for several months! It was hardly fashionable, but it served a purpose!

Magic Knickers!

Hello

I am six weeks post op., and went out to a late christmas party last night.

I wore magic knickers and they were fine! They are like thin cycle shorts. They gave just enough support to stop my swelly belly flopping about! But they look awful!!

Danced till midnight, drank too much and felt human again!!

it works for me!

Hi Christy-
I am using the Swelly Belly Band from the Hystersisters store and REALLY like it for my daily walks. I am 10 days post-op and am using it for my twice daily 2/10 mile walks and it works like a dream. It is also very cooling, kind of like an ice pack with a band attached.
Hope this helps and congrats on your recovery!

Qestion about tummy support?

Thanks for all the ideas. They did not give me a belly binder. All I have had is my faithful pillow. But I am really tired of carrying it around so I thought some different support would be good. I will look around Tues. and see what I can find. The spandex shorts or hanes hightop panties sounds like a good idea. Glad to know someone else is trying short walks. I don't know that I feel up to drinking too much yet but just getting out made me feel more human. Thanks again for the input. Ya'll have a great week. Christy

Qestion about tummy support?

I got light control panties from Walmart. They are great, just enough support, but not tight. And they are silky so they move with the clothes too.

If you need the name let me know, my hubby is sleeping and don't want to wake him up.

I am almost 4 months, and my belly comes and goes. Right above the incision. This week has been bad, too much up and down out of the desk chair at work. Still cannot vacuum, oh I am so sad.

I take my trusty ice pack, lie down at lunch on the sofa in the spare room at work for 20 or 30 min, and it helps.

Qestion about tummy support?

rmsjohns,
I would like the name if you get the chance. I told my husband that I feel like I am evolving. I have gone from hunched over, cro-magnon woman to almost homo-erectus. I can almost stand upright but I get so tired of holding onto my pillow or my belly. Just thought some support might help. Thanks for the reply. Christy

Power Panties

Yes! Power panties by Spanx! I know Nordstrom carries them, and I believe there is a Spanx website. Also, try QVC.com. I'm tellin' ya - they are the best! I wore them pre-op to hold in the melon size fibroid, and I'm wearing them post op for some comfy support, and no panty lines! Gotta love that combo!

They're spendy, but trust me, they're worth it. They wash and dry like a dream, and are virtually indestructible. I think they sell for around $25.00 if I recall correctly. They last so long I don't have to buy them that often!
