Question - bladder prolapse bladder prolapse

This is my first post. I've just been told I should have surgery due to a prolapse bladder. The doctor is recommending a Obtryx sling and a vaginal hysterectomy as well. the vaginal hysterectomy I'm fine with, just have some ??? about the sling procedure. The sling seems to have some negative complications based on what I'm reading on the web. The doctor said this was an effective way to treat my problem, has anyone out there had this particular type of sling and any commnets about it?
Thanks!

bladder prolapse

I to have bladder prolapse, and I will be having a TVH with the TVT sling 3-22-05. My doctor hasn't told me anything negative about the sling although I have heard some not so great things about it. The most I've heard is that it can be put in to tightly and in return it would have to be ajusted, it can also erode, or so I have been told.
Good Luck with your surgery and all will go well.

bladder prolapse

I had my TAH in May. Last week I had posterior repair and enterocele repair. I was supposed to see a urologist before I had my repairs, but my appts. kept getting cancelled. I had urodynamic testing in the beginning of Jan. The results said I have stress incontinence and the urogyn recommended a tvt or tvot or some other kind of urethral suspension if I had the enterocele repaired. I went ahead with the prolapse surgery, because my bm symptoms were worstening quickly. I couldn't get the urologist incolved quick enough.
I made another appt. with the urologist for next week anyway.(Feb.8th) He may still suggest I get a sling put in. I do have a small cystocele, but my gyn didn't think it needed repaired last week.I know the incontinence will probably worsten over time. I will ask him about complications with the sling procedures and post them here after my appt.
I have read they mostly have a good outcome. It is rare they cause a erosion problem.
I wish you luck with your procedure. It will only take about 20 extra minutes to do if you are already having your hyst at the same time.

I wish I would have waited and had mine all done at once.

bladder prolapse

Hi Scarlet,
I am two weeks post-op, for prolapse bladder. I am 36 years old. I had a vaginal hysterectomy aprox 5 years ago. I had a TVT sling put in. The surgery itself was not really that bad. The doctor gave me tylenol 3 afterwards, but I did'nt need to take them. After the surgery I could not pee. They sent me home with a catheter for two days.(not pleasant, but managable) When I went back to the hospital to have the catheter removed I was able to go on my own. My recovery has been normal until about three days ago. I started to have pain and swelling on my right side. I called the doctor and he said to have a urine culture done to check for infection. So I'll have to let you know how it all works out. If not for the recent pain I would have told you that this sugery is a walk in the park.
Morning
