How long till you were out and about?
I'm 2 1/2 weeks out and am feeling pretty good as long as I don't overdo it. Started the kids back on their schoolwork (we homeschool) and am puttering around a little. I'm up most of the day and on no pain meds at all. I'm tired at night and the other night I finally managed to get in and out of the tub, we have a deep one. That made me sore. The problem is is I want OUT of the house!! My bf was going to come Friday and take me out for awhile. When I mentioned it to dh he had a hissy fit. He doesn't think I'm ready. He thinks it needs to be AT LEAST 4 weeks before I go out and then with him. GRRRRRRR!!! He just doesn't get that once in awhile I need a break too. I need to feel like my life will be normal again. I feel like driving but am humoring him in not doing it. I heard the doc say one thing and apparently he heard another. I know he is just trying to take care of me but please I know how I feel and what is too much for me.

How long till you were out and about?
I was going crazy in the house, so I got up the gumption and drove at 9 days. I shuffeled around 1 store with a friend and that was all I could handle for the rest of the day.
I was also back at work (part time) very early in my recovery, I survived it but I don't recommend it.
Take care- and if you do get out, take it easy for the first few times.

How long till you were out and about?
Hi ginnie5,
It sounds like you need a break! I am also about 2 and a half weeks post op (TAH/BSO) and have been driving for a few days. I am really nervous about getting in an accident and doing damage to my healing body so I am really limiting how much I drive, even though I feel good.
I would think going out with a friend and having them drive would be really good for you. Just plan a small outing so you don't overdo it. And I would not go out with a funny friend as laughing can really hurt sometimes!
Feel free to vent here.....we can take it!!
Have a happy day!
Jennifer

How long till you were out and about?
Hi, Ginnie. At first I read your post thinking that "bf" was boyfriend!! I was thinking WOW her DH would rather she go out with him! Then I realized you were talking about your best friend?!?! HaHa!
Beyond that brain fog.. I think that it's nice to get out for a little while too. Today my friend is coming to pick me up and take me to lunch. We could do it here, but I can't wait to get out.
Hope your DH will see the soon!

How long till you were out and about?
I am 9 days out and I actually went to Wal-Mart yesterday with dh. Short trip, very tired last nite but it was good to feel normal. I would think that if you can homeschool, you deserve a little time out. Just be safe. Christy

How long till you were out and about?
on my 5th day home I talked my husband into taking me to the local pet store so we could get our puppy some bones. We took our dog with us and then on the way home we stopped by Publix to pick something up for dinner. I was fine for the whole thing. Tired at the end of the night but it was so nice just to get out of the house.

How long till you were out and about?
At 2 weeks post op my doc cleared me to drive. When she saw how excited I was about it, she clarified "only if necessary - I want you home resting." Oh..............well, that night I drove myself to Starbucks, and then to Hallmark to do some card shopping. I was surprised how physically vulnerable I felt driving, and even just getting around on my own. That little outing wiped me out for the rest of the night.
Since then, I spent a week at my sister's house who lives a 3 plus hour drive away, but was driven there and back. That was the best thing I've done in my recovery, because although the travel made me a bit tired, it was SO GOOD to be in different surroundings for awhile! I'm also in the middle of a divorce , so I think a change of scene was really good for me.
I'm now nearly 4 weeks post op and can be out and about for longer periods and don't feel so physically vulnerable anymore. I'm sure you hystersisters can relate to what I'm talking about - I'm used to feeling strong & capable, and this surgery definitely took that away from me for the first 2 weeks. Glad to be nearly 4 weeks now!!!

How long till you were out and about?
Hi,
I am only 6 days post op and I went out with my husband for a short trip to the grocery store yesterday. I am healing well and am off pain meds. Well going out yesterday about wiped me out I am resting all day today and haven't even gotten up to go to the shower yet. If you feel up to it go because you need it but maybe make it a short trip so you can see how your body tolerates it . We all heal differently.
Good Luck!!

How long till you were out and about?
Well, I too thought BF was "boyfriend". It's been 12 days for me and after reading that like I did, maybe I should start back on the pain meds...I act like I'm taking them regardless. Anyone having problems taking it easy? I'm borded stiff.
