removal of ovaries only?

Anyone know anything about removal of ovaries while leaving the uterus? My problem is excess estrogen production, so the reason for my need for a hysterectomy is strictly to stop producing estrogen. I can't take any b.c. pills or progesterone because it makes my moods really bad (I have bipolar depression). Any info would be appreciated. BTW, I'm 27. Thanks.

What have you been told of what to expect after your surgery? Do you expect of go on HRT/ERT?

I would think the decision would relate to replacement issues.

We haven't really discussed anything yet, except that gyn wants me to have a Lepron injection to put me in a "trial menopause" before any surgery to make sure the surgery will help like we think it will. All hormone therapy I've taken in the past has really screwed up my moods, so I'm not sure how we'll handle that.

Have you been scanned to see if you have a cyst somewhere? I have read that some rare cysts that produce estrogen? What kind of workup have you had and how high is your estrogen level?

Yes, I've been diagnosed w/ PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease), so I have several cysts right now. We haven't done any tests yet and I'm not sure exactly the number of my estrogen level.
