Starting to feel off kilter again, how much is too much?

Was doing great on .75 Vivelle Dot. Now after 6 months, I am starting to feel off kilter again. Has anyone experienced this? I just filled my prescription recently for my patch and am thinking about putting on 2 of them tonight when I change it, so would be at 1.5. I suppose I could go read the WHO study, but I'd like to know what estrogen levels they studied. I'm worried that too much estrogen will put me at risk. Any insights?

Hi Patty!

It's not unusual for hormone needs to change over time. I think calling your doctor would be a good idea. Two patches at once at that strength sounds like a big jump to me though some women do wear more than one patch.

Where are you wearing your patch? If you have it on your abdomen you could switch it to wear on your rear and, in effect, increase the dose as it absorbs better back there.

Maybe your doctor has some low dose samples you could combine with your 0.075. Just an you might consider!

Patty,
What symptoms are you having? Here's a list for symptoms of imbalance Too much/Too little

Have you been under any stress? Been sick? If so, those things can cause our levels to fluctuate and isn't necessarily a sign that you need to change anything. I am going on six years post op and see a return of hot flashes, night sweats, etc when I am feeling under the weather or having alot of stress.

I do think you should contact your doctor before adding another patch. That is quite a big jump in doseage and it may be that something else is going on.

Thanks so much for the post. I have had quite a bit of stress lately. Thanks too, for the too much/too little list. I have not tried the progesterone cream and noticed that some of the symptoms that I am experiencing are on the too little progesterone list. One other question: Is the progesterone cream at my local nutrition store the same or as good as what comes from a compounding pharmacist?

Hi again!

It would depend on what kind you buy. If you get one on the list approved by Dr. John Lee, like the Natural Woman brand sold in the Hyster Sisters store, it's actual progesterone. The main difference is that it's weaker than what you can get from a compounding pharmacy. Some women use it to see if it makes a difference in how they feel and if they like it get it from a compounding pharmacy. The progesterone I get from my compounding pharmacy is covered by my insurance plan but if I bought it over the counter it wouldn't be.

I hope this helps!
