vaginal vault prolapse (Help please)
Hi
I am back here after being away for four years and yesterday posted a thread about an air bubble like feeling I had in the vaginal passage. I think it is probably a vaginal vault prolapse and although I am really reluctant to visit my Dr I have an appointment for next thursday.
I read that about 30% of women can experience this condition after a hysterectomy due to a uterine prolapse So there must be someone out there who can tell me some more about it.
I feel sort of "full" and am constantly aware of the sensation. It doesn't feel the same as I remember the prolapsed uterus did...I expect this is because there is less bulk pressing down.
I would be really grateful for a response...thank you.
Nickie

vaginal vault prolapse (Help please)
Oh ((((Nickie)))) I'm so sorry you may be dealing with another prolapse, so long after your hyst
I did have a Stage 3 rectocele, pre-hyst, and know that there are several "levels" of prolapse, so this may explain why it feels different than it did pre-hyst, in addition to the reduced pressure from not having the uterus also press on to your organs.
I do want to send s your way and wish you best of luck with your appointment, next week

vaginal vault prolapse (Help please)
Hi (((Nickie))),
I'm sorry to hear of the symptoms your experiencing I was dx'd with a Vaginal Vault prolapse about 2 yrs ago. My surgery was over 5 yrs ago & I never had any prolapse issues before.
I also experience that fullness & heaviness, I suffer from incontinence & also have problems with BM's. I get this bulging from my Vagina and often feel as if everything is going to fall out, yikes!
When the cervix & Uterus < exp the ligaments supporting them > are removed, we lose a lot of pelvic support which can result in this & other organ prolapses..sigh.
Here are a couple links from our Resources that contain some info on this condition..perhaps it can provide you with a better understanding & more insight into this complication:
Surgery for Apical Vaginal Prolapse
Vaginal Vault prolapse
I do hope this can be of some help Please make an appt with your Dr so you can find out if this is the issue and find out your options...
Good Luck with everything I do hope you can soon find some answers & relief to all this...please keep us posted on how things are going...((hugs))

vaginal vault prolapse (Help please)
Hi
Thanks for your replies....did anyone tell you that a hysterectomy would make you suseptible to other prolapses? As I had mine to relieve a uterine prolapse it seems kind of ironic that it has caused the symptoms it cured!
Maybe I am wrong anyway, fingers crossed for thursday when I go to the doctors. I am going to have a look at the links now. Thanks again, have a good Sunday.
Nickie

vaginal vault prolapse (Help please)
Hi again (((Nickie))),
You know I don't really remember. I do not recall though
it being of any huge concern to me at the time which I will assume
is because I wasnt aware of it or perhaps felt it couldnt or wouldnt happen to me
I have discovered many things, much of which has come from my own research, exp regarding the Cervix since my own surgery. Researchers know so much more about these issues & possible effects and such then they did a few short years ago...a definite plus
I do hope this doesnt turn out to be the case for you If it should, please know your not alone in this
Please let us know how that appt goes...(((hugs)))

vaginal vault prolapse (Help please)
Nickie,
I just had a vaginal vault prolapse repair a week and a half ago. I had a vaginal hysterectomy in 2001. At that time, noone told me this could happen, but since I have found out differently. The uterosacral ligaments should be reattached, but normally aren't. I believe this is more common after a vaginal hyst.
I did have a rectocele prior to my hysterectomy, but after it got worse and worse until I had no choice but to see a urogynecologist in my area who is very good. As I think was mentioned before these prolapses are graded by stages. Mine was a three, but it didn't seem to take it long to go from a 2 to a 3. My urogyn said he didn't have a hard time telling why the prolapse happened.
Take care and feel well!
Sherry
