Is this normal? Started bleeding @ 4wks

Hi Sister's,

I haven't bled since my first day in the hospital and now I'm bleeding (brown blood). Has anyone else gone through this? How long does this last? I thought our bleeding was done? I don't want to worry about when I'm going to bleed again. What's next??

Hi tracy,

It is frustrating to see blood. I had a little off and on too and it always kind of worried me. There are a few things that can cause this. I'm wondering how much you are talking about? A little bit of blood from time to time isn't unusual for most during recovery.

Since it is brown it is old blood. It could be from a stitch that pulled loose and caused some bleeding. It can also come from your cervix. Sometimes you get a miniperiod from the cervix if you didn't have it cauterized.
It shouldn't last long, if it does, please check with you dr. It is never a bad idea to call and ask questions when you have something happen that you don't understand. They will understand.

Blessings, Rita

Is this normal?

I am now 3 weeks out of surgery and am feeling great! When I went for my 2-week follow-up, the doctor told me to expect some bleeding anywhere from 2 weeks on out because the internal stitches would start dissolving and breaking. He told me that it would be more like spotting and would not last very long. I haven't experienced this yet. Maybe that's what's happening to you.

Hi Rita,

Thanks for your post. It's like the end of period. I'm wearing a pantyliner what a nusense... I've loved not wearing one for the first time in years. I put a call into my dr. and haven't heard back from him yet. I hope this is normal.

Thanks!

Im really glad this question was asked. I am 3 weeks post-op and had not had any bleeding since the day of surgery either. I started having a brownish-yellow discharge today. Ive been reading the post on here and it sounds like it is pretty normal.

Best of luck to you all and Thank You.
