Hi Sandra,

I believe you need to see the doctor, at least give the office a call. You may have an infection and it's best not to wait. If it's not, then no harm done.
Take care,
Maralyn

I agree, a call to the doctor will confirm whether or not this is an infection or normal for your point in recovery. I will tell you I had the same thing early on (about week #2) and the doctor told me it was normal. It did go away after a week or so. Good luck! Sherri

discharge with odor

I am one month LVH today and I am experiencing the same thing.

I had to go into the Dr. 1 week post-op due to a kidney infection and asked about the discharge and odor then. She said that these are "healing juices" (ew!) and that it is normal. She also reminded me not to douche or take a tub bath - only showers. I shower at least twice a day - it makes me feel better and clean, but the odor is still there. I would love for this to stop too! I have literally been through 4, 48 count packs of panty liners since January 10!

Not to be gross, but my discharge sounds similar to what you described.

Lovely, eh?

discharge with odor

I had my LAVH last June and I had the same thing, I had to go out and buy panty liners, and I thought I would'nt need them.

The odour eventually went and so did the discharge and the panty liners (yipeee).

discharge with odor

Hi! I had a little discharge, and odor. Before surgery, I was prone to bacterial infections!!! I was so afraid it was another infection.
When I went in for my 6 week check, he cleaned me out with a large cotton swab. It was 'green' YUK!!!! He said my vaginal stitches were slow healing. But he released me to do whatever I wanted to do.
Since he cleaned me out, I haven't had any odor. So its a good possiblity that it's coming from your stitches dissolving and the healing process itself.
Good luck! But I'd call the doctor just to be safe. If it were an infection, you wouldn't want to wait and have it turn into something that could have been prevented!
