What Is The Size Of A "normal" Uterus????

As I sit here reading my 2 page pathology report, I can't help but wonder....
They talk about grams and cm, how about ounces and inches???
I know I was in a very lengthy surgery because my uterus was so enlarged. Now my questions is, how large is large????
It says my uterus and cervix together weigh 369 grams.
I'm thinking that is only a little over a pouns.
Am I right? Geez with all the problems I thought it would have weighed at least 10#.
Does anyone know or have a web site that could explain the weights and measurements?
Thanks girls
Pat

Pat,
My path report said that mine was 132 gm and 8week size (as in 8 weeks pregnant). So it is safe to say, yours was HUGE!!
Hope that helps.

I found this on a physician licensing board:

UTERINE SIZE AND WEIGHT

Type of Uterus & weight (g)

Normal Uterus
Nulliparous 70
Multiparous 75-125

Enlarged Uterus
(gestational age)
8 weeks 125-150
12 weeks 280-320
24 weeks 580-620

Hope this helps.

Here's a really easy to use metric conversion site - link

So your uterus was about 13 ounces.

A normal uterus is about 2.5 to 4.5 ounces.

You can use that site to convert the cms to inches too.

Take care.

What Is The Size Of A "normal" Uterus????

Mine was 1380 gm and the size of 6 month pregnancy. My stomach was big and hard and I was very uncomfortable and about to have to buy maternity clothes. I had it removed on 1-6-05 and kept my cervix and ovaries. I've got to figure that in pounds but it felt like 20lbs!

What Is The Size Of A "normal" Uterus????

This is fascinating! I was looking at my insurance auth paperwork yesterday and its a request for a vag hyst 250 grams... So does that mean that he already knows that my uterus is that size?? I haven't actually seen him since November so I'm sure if that was the case, that its bigger now! No wonder none of my clothes fit right! Oy Vey! Is it March 16 yet!?!?! LOL
Good luck to all of you!!

What Is The Size Of A "normal" Uterus????

WOW!
If numbers are right. My fibroid was about 3.13 lbs
so in grams about 1420 (22.5cm x 22.5cm) just under 9"
inches it was very round. my belly was so big I wore everything big and baggy.

I didn't know I could get the pathology report I'll have to ask him.

I can't wait to tie my shoes! lol

I am getting ready to have TVH on 2/22/05 at my last dr visit they I had done a sonagram and they told me mine was the size of 12 weeks which is 3 months size. When I was actually pregant at 3 months I looked pregant and just the other night my DH asked me if after the surgery/healing etc would I no longer look like I was 3 months pregrant. Well that's my question, did you guys get small looking? That would be great!
