Seeing doc on Tuesday.
I go to the doc on Tuesday to see what stage the cancer is at. Will he refer me to a gyn oncologist if I ask him? I never knew that there were oncologists that specalised in gyn before. I am still pretty scared and upset, and anger and resentment and everything thrown in there too. I want my uterus and cervix in me where they belong, they're mine!! I feel kind of like my body has turned against me.

Seeing doc on Tuesday.
Hi Angel,
Poor you! I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this!
yes, your doctor should refer you to a gyn/oncologist if cancer is even the least bit suspected. BUT, If he DOES NOT refer you, I urge you to go see a gyn/oncologist for a second opinion, anyway. These are the professionals who are really trained in this area, and you want to be in the best possible hands to deal with your particular situation.
I was lucky. I practically begged my gyn Doc to do my surgery. Heck, I wasnt' going to need an gyn/oncologist, I said! FORTUNATELY, very, very fortunately for me, my regular Gyn knew that my case was out of his realm, and he made the appointment for me to see a gyn/oncologist that week. His quick action undoubtedly is one of the reasons that my prognosis is now so good.
PLEASE see a Gynecological oncologist for another opinion!

Seeing doc on Tuesday.
Hi Angel!
You are about a year younger than my youngest. That makes me "old"! But, I promise you, that when you are "old" like me, you won't actually feel old. It's just like they all say, "I feel like I'm still 29 in my mind." Guess I'm saying this cause you probably might like to hear from someone your own age who is going through this too. There are ladies on here who are your age, and a few even younger. Still...
I felt like you back in November when I was diagnosed with my cancer. That word, cancer, was not something for me to ever get! And yes, I felt, and still feel that I cannot trust my body, that it's turned on me, like you said. Then, I went through different phases of feeling like everything was surreal, I felt strange, because this wasn't part of my life. It's something you hear about.
You know, I love to garden. I thought about my beloved plant collection and my trees, etc. When one of them becomes diseased, I notice it early, because I'm always checking them out, looking for signs. Then, I can try "surgery" (cutting off the diseased part), or chemical means, or sometimes, just moving the plant to a better environment for optimum growth. Even if a special rose vine keeps getting the dreaded fungus and everything else, I keep that rose going! It's like cancer. You can cure it. If it's stubborn, like the rose, you just keep at it, and that sucker will live longer than I ever will, if it gets proper care. Cancer is getting more and more like diabetes used to be: you stay on top of it, you go for treatment, and it's a chronic disease that acts up now and then. Of course, if you ignore it, well... And who would do that? Not the Sisters!
Go, go go for the GYN/ONC. My regular gyn found me one before I even knew they existed! I'm just getting through my first round of radiation, and I'm going shopping in a few minutes. I didn't have chemo, bec. I was early enough to not need it, and the location of the cancer was good. I do not miss my uterus and ovaries. I feel the same. Of course, anyone my age wouldn't miss them. I understand why you would. What's left works just fine, too, for me! It's a secret but, cancer changes you in more ways than one. It really does make you better in many ways, I just can't explain. You will know. The part you are in now is the "wham, bam, I can't believe this" part, you know? Life in general gets better, I think, as it goes on. You think aging has got to be the pits, but now that I've done that, age reveals experiences and secrets and better things about the life journey.
