anyone on natural hormones??

I am 5 weeks post op and staying off hormones as long as possible per doc's advice to snuff out the endometriosis inside me. Several people have mentioned natural hormones are the way to go. I know nothing about any of this. I don't want my hair to fall out, my weight to balloon up, my sex drive to go away or my moods to go on the rollercoaster rides they did when I was on fertility drugs years back. Any advice on the "hormone question"???

HI bamajoy to Hystersisters

It would really depend on what you are referring to as natural hormones. Some people refer to herbs as natural and some people refer to bio-identical hormones as natural. I myself use bio-identical estrogen and progesterone.

In either case we have many women using both herbs and bio-identical hormones for their menopause symptoms.

You can learn more about Bio-identical hormones (identical to what the ovaries produce) by reading some articles in our resources. You can access them here. Hormone article list and Hormone resources

If you are thinking about trying herbs you might get some advice from the ladies in the No hormone dessert oasis. The women their either can not or do not use hormones and might be of some help while you are trying to control your symptoms.

Sounds like we had the same type of problems!

I use the Esterdiol patch. I haven't had any problems. I'm on the lowest dosage. If I ever feel like I need more, I buy the natural estrogen cream to use. It does take your body a while to adjust to any changes you make , so take that in to consideration. Right after my hysterectomy, I was on a much higher dosage and after a year moved to the lowest. It took my body about 4 mths. to adjust. I though I had made a mistake, because I could tell a big difference, but all is perfect now. Hopefully, I will be able to get off of them completely in a couple of years.
