Side effects?
I was placed on Premarin vaginal cream and told to purchase some progesterone at one of the natural food stores for 1) dry itchy skin and pubic areas and 2) inability to sleep at night. I was given this by our family DR (female) who hit the ceiling when I explained that my gyno had said that since I had ovaries, I wouldn't need HRT. Anyway, I used these on Fri, Sat, & Sun. Noticed that I had developed a rash on the palms of my hands (although the itchy pubic area is much better).
I've called the DR's ofc and left more than 1 message and received no reply - so I'll drop in tomorrow - but did anyone experience this kind of a rash? With the benadryl I'm taking, I'm sleeping during the day and not at night!
Thanks.
Sally

Side effects?
Hi Sally
It sounds as if there could be an ingredient in the cream that is causing the rash on palms of your hands. If you can't tolerate over the counter progesterone cream, you might have better luck with a compounded cream that could be made in a hypoallergenic base.
I'm curious to know what you found out from your doctor!

Side effects?
I've noticed that some OTC progersterones are yam based and some are soy based. Perhaps you are allergic to one or the other and could try the other kind.

Went to the doctor
At the doctor's office I was told that my blood test came back in normal limits and that I don't need estrogen or progesterone. I'm not in perimenopause or in menopause. So, I'm confused. Talked with a girlfriend who said she'd been told she was in normal limits - but mood swings made her say, no, I'm not. So, she talked about an OTC estrogen that she takes and likes a lot.
Right now, I've been given another anti-rash medication and although the rash isn't gone, it's better. So, right now, no estrogen or progesterone for me. We'll see if it keeps coming back. Thanks for your responses. Next time I buy something, I'll buy the trial size!
