Will I go hairy???

Can anybody tell me (I know this is probably a really silly question but I have to ask), with me not taking HRT at all will I develop hirsuitism?? (Not sure how to spell it!)

I am taking natural HRT but not all the time and I still worry about my hormone levels.

I'm also getting terrible pains still from pelvic adhesions and still can't be intimate with my husband - not a good recipe for a relatively new marriage. I did try oestrogen pessaries but they burned my skin really badly so had to stop using them. Any other ideas?

Will I be like this until I reach my 50's or will these symptoms subside in the next few years? Does anyone have any advice also as to what I should be doing to look after myself as far as check ups go etc. I have booked a Bone Density Scan for March but have no idea if I should be checking anything else.

Many thanks and sorry for sounding like a complete idiot!

Will I go hairy???

Hi Robyn, though I'm not the most knowledgeable person regarding all things hysterectomal (like that word? I made it up!)on this board, I seem to be the first one to come along.

So, I'll share what I've observed since my hysterectomy and removal of my ovaries. I used to have a bunch of thick, black hairs that would sprout on my chin overnight. And my morning routine was to pluck those things out. They were so thick, that it felt like their little roots were wound around my lower teeth as I plucked them. But they were back every morning, just like a man's beard.

The day after my surgery, I noticed when I went to tweeze those little suckers again, they weren't there. The day after, still didn't come back. They have not returned, and it's been 8 or 9 weeks since my surgery now.

All I can think is that my own ovaries (which I still do miss very much) were producing a bit more testosterone than was needed.

So, I don't know if that means I'll never have that problem again, but I suspect I won't--unless my adrenal glands do something weird.

Will I go hairy???

Robyn, I have not been on any hormone replacement and it's been a year and I am not hairy. I don't think you should worry.

Thanks!!!

Thank you to "Tallwoman" and "Who me?" for replying to my post. I feel so much better and a lot more relaxed on the subject - I guess I just need to stop worrying!!!

It's just wonderful that such awesome women take time out to answer our questions when you are already going through enough!! I just love this website for precisely that reason. It's great to learn through others' experiences.

Once again thanks for being there!!!

Will I go hairy???

Tee Hee
I am laughing because before surgery I shaved my chin every morning and trimmed my mustache every third day. Cant say much has changed except that my mustache is not so dark. Its genetic for me. My paternal grandmother had a full beard. I remember thinking when I was young that she could have been in the circus! But then I turned 12 and what do you know? I could go to the circus with her. Im the hariest one of her granddaughters. It would be nice if I had less hair on my face but more hair on my head!
So dont worry. Those of us with hair before havent seen much difference. And WE would sure know!
PS have tried many many things over the years. Now just do the shave thing. Easier and cheaper.
Love Ya
Sue
