Embarrassing Question

I'm going in 1 week from today and I was thinking about having sex with dh....did anyone stop a few days before their surgery so they didn't have any "extra" specimins for pathology?? They will be looking at everything to make sure the cancer is gone. I know before a pap you are supposed to go 3 days to have a "clean" sample....

Thanks!

Embarrassing Question

Don't be embarrassed! It's a perfectly valid question--just one I had never thought about. My DH is talking (only half jokingly) about stocking up beforehand, if you know what I mean! My doctor hasn't said a word about curtailing sex prior to surgery. You could give yours a call and see if it's necessary--if not, have all the fun you can, girl!

Embarrassing Question

It's funny that you posted this. My DH and I were talking about this. We laughed about it and we decided that it was perfectly normal for you to want to "stock up". I'm not having a hyst for cancer reasons, so I'm just going to talk a really good shower before I go in and call it good, if the doctor says its ok.

Embarrassing Question

Hi everyone - great question - we have talking about this, too!
I think we are going to have to abstain for a few days before surgery becuase I would just find it embarassing if people at the hospital got a little too much info! I'm not so worried about the path report as just simple hygiene. I'm sure they have seen it all but it will help my dignity a bit! I do the same before gyn visits!

Hi, I just joined this club and I have a question prior to my surgery, has anyone had hip pain from having a vaginal hysterectomy? 2 friends have told me that the hip pain was almost worse than the surgery itself, has anyone else had this problem?

Embarrassing Question

About the original question, why not use a condom? It's better than not getting to do what you want to do before surgery. I don't mean to sound flippant..please forgive me if I do!

And for the sister with the TVH question: yes, I had achy hip joints for several weeks. More annoying than actually painful, though. This subsided around week 5-6. The more I walk, the better it gets. At week 7, I've been working all day (7-4), and am just starting to feel tired and a bit sore.

Hang in there, ladies, the best is yet to be!

abstaining

I had to abstain for three nights before hand because I had to use a vaginal suppository antibiotic for three nights before surgery and was told nothing in vagina while I was using the antibiotic. The antibiotic was to help prevent infection after surgery. Needless to say, It has been 5 weeks without!!!!!!
If not for the antibiotic, I would have definately stocked up. GO FOR IT.

Embarrassing Question

Amoreena! Good point! Silly me! I guess since I've had a tubal I have gotten spoiled... it did not occur to me! However, I remember having problems with some condoms causing infections which I also do not want to risk! I am so well-prepared for surgery that I have brain fog already! You are not being flippant - it is always hard to be the one to have to point out the obvious

Embarrassing Question

I had not really thought about this question until I read your post on here the other day. So, at pre-op Tuesday, I asked my dr. if I should abstain the night before. I think I took him by surprise. If you can believe a gyn. can be embarrassed. LOL. He told me to do what I had to do. His words. And that it would be 6 weeks before I could again. Just thought I'd let you know what my gyn. said.
