Kept ovaries, no cervix, so......

Hello Ladies!
I'm approaching week 4, and at my 2 week visit, I asked my DR if I could still have PMS symptoms. He said that was possible, as my ovaries don't know my uterus is gone. Since he removed my cervix, he said that I don't have to worry about mini-periods though. What I didn't ask, was if I would have the water/bloated issues. I haven't experienced this yet, and wonder if that is gone forever as well? I am having crampy feelings though (last night was really bad), and I'm wondering if this is normal surgery pains, or if this is ovary related.
Thanks for the input! :-)
Janine.

Hi Janine,

I had a TVH (kept ovaries) on 1/3/05, and have had a couple of cycles as you describe. I recognize the symptoms as PMS, but they're not as bad as pre-op, and of course, no period --- yeah! The moodiness isn't as bad, either, which DH likes, and so do I! And my cheeks are rosy for the first time in about ten years. Co-workers even commented on it...kinda funny.

It still amazes me that the old bod is only about three days off of what my cycles would have been without the surgery...our ovaries aren't giving up yet, and I for one am really glad! Hormonal menopause will come soon enough, I'm sure, but it's one less thing to deal with right now.

Happy healing, hope your cramps go away in a day or two!
