tah w/ removal of tubes and ovaries too

Hi all. Well, you all don't really know me too well, I just started on this site right before I had my tah and moved..so..just got my puter back the other day..so..I will be here more now!
I hope everyone is doing well. I am wondering how long everyone was in the hospital for? and how long before you could drive? and sex?
I had my tah and removal of ovaries and tubes...EVERYTHING GONE.....on Februrary 1st around 2:30pm..and I was sent home February 3rd at about the same time. I figured I would be there for at least three or four days..but nope..and I was really hurting...I was crying my head off until they finally gave me some pain meds that worked! Anyway, after a week home, I visited the doctor and I was told I could drive already around my community. So, really, I only got one week to lay around. I had to be doing the laundry and unpacking and taking care of the kids and driving them back and forth to school etc etc since right after a week of being home!!!! I have to say...it has been 29 days now since my surgery, and I am moving right along, but I keep having these pinching feelings inside..and I keep feeling like I have a urinary tract infection...and it hurts when I urinate...the other day I was having a brownish reddish discharge and had about a dime size blood clot..I don't know if that is normal or not. I feel pressure...I guess it is just everything trying to heal up. Anyway, just wanted to say hello...

Hi,
I also had a TAH. Mine 6 weeks ago today feeling ok. I did not drive until a little over 2 weeks post-op, doing laundry, house cleaning, cooking, without help about 2 weeks not up to full speed yet. As far as discharge and clots I never had any but if it keeps up you should call and ask the doctor. I have read that some do have a discharge after 2-3 weeks from stitchs healing.

You said you moved after you TAH, was it a local move or what? Hope all went good.

Glad your back with us here.

It seems to me that you may have been sent home too early. You obviously have some concerns you aren't getting addressed, because you're not asking your doctor. I know sometimes we feel we're bugging our docs by asking questions, but that's what they're there for.

You could very well have a bladder infection, and all that takes is a simple urine test. You don't want to ignore that. You've been doing too much physically, I think. You need to allow your body to heal, and with all that you're doing, I don't see how that's possible. Try and get some help if you can! I know it's been a month since your surgery, but you haven't been able to recover like you should!

Please slow down and take it easy.

I know I have been doing too much..but I really have not had a choice...hubby does what he can..but you know how it is..we mom's have all the responsibility it seems. Moving around surgery time was not good either! In fact, the day I came home, to our new home, hubby did not even have one stitch of our things in the trailer yet! Not even the bed..I had to come and sit in the living room floor until he could get the bed put up at least. His work schedule was crazy and so many things to do..we thought I would be in the hospital for at least four to give days or longer..so he thought he had time to get everything done...WRONG. Yes, I do think I was sent home too early...barley two days! But, I guess I just need to be glad that it all went well. Hey, did anyone get thier incision glued? I did not get stitches or staples..I was glued..which is fine with me becuase I dreaded getting staples or stitches taken out...I was wondering...on anyone's incison..how long did it take to stop being puffy above it? And, does yours feel all bumpy like underneath the incision? I guess that is all the stitches on the inside probably. And, what kind of hormone pills are you all on? I am on some little red ones called Cenestin that costs $50 a month. And, the big question...when did you all get to have sex again? Hubby and I have done some things we probably should not have yet...and I won't get into it in this message, but I was just wondering..did it hurt bad when you first did again? Did it feel different? Thanks you all for writing back and for answering my questions.
Glad I am back too...you all seem so nice.

Hi again,
I can answer some of your ??. First of all I only stayed at the castle 2 days, They glued me also. I did have to go for a 2 week check up she just looked at my belly and asked if I needed any more pain meds and sent me on my way. I was good with that because I thought she might do a pelvic, but that will come with my next appt. As far as the puffy area I still have mine but it is just starting to get smaller I can wear my jeans on most days without problem.
You also talked about hormone pills I take estratest HS, I'm lucky insurance pays about 80% so I pay $50.00 for 3 months supply.
As far as sex I have not been cleared for intercourse yet but have also done other things to make sure all works, so far so good (lol) . Hope this helps for me its nice to have some one to share with.

LOL...well I am glad I am not the only one who has tried some things out! haha...feel free to contact me anytime if ya wanna chat about it sometime. It is good to have someone who understands to talk to about things...I was scared at my first appt to that my doc would do a pelvic...I kept thinking about how bad it was going to hurt...but, fortunately he didn't..I go back March 9th, so I guess that is when he will do it. I am NOT looking forward to it...I know it will hurt, I just know it.
I don't know if I will be cleared for sex then or not..I don't feel like I am ready, I think it would hurt too much right now, cause it hurts up in there even when I urinate..it is like a pressure of some kind, but as I had said, we have done "other" things, and I have to say, I think things will be the same except for the actual, well, how do I say this without being blunt and saying it..hmmm...well, I still feel the same, but nothing comes out.....sheesh...I cannot beleive I just wrote that..but hey, we are all sisters here right!? I wondered about that...if an orgasm would be the same..and well, the feeling for me is, but, well, let's just put it this way.....nobody has to lay in a wet spot...Ok...I am really sorry, I hope I am not offending anyone, but I am just being honest and trying to make some of you smile in this time of needing to smile....Well, I will stop rambling on now...take care all....God bless!!!!
