SORE INCISION
Mandy,
If it is very bothersome then you should let your doctor know about this. But I do know that my incision hurt for quite some time, and my doctor said that the burning feeling was nerves healing. Hope this helps some.

SORE INCISION
Hi Mandy,
Yes, call your Dr. if you'd like to, but this seems very normal to me. It happens to the ladies here all the time.
The reason this this pain may be occuring is that prolonged sitting puts lots of pressure on your incision and internal stitches. It can even cause added swelling. The best remedy for this is lots of rest with your feet UP, or just lying down.
You are still very early in your recovery...healing will go on for a few months, but youll be feeling better in a few weeks. The best way to speed the healing is to keep resting a lot "horizontally"!
My very best to you...
Linda

Sore Incision
My surgery was 01/15/01, and here I am on my third week of recovery, and still very sore, every day it is something new to complain about, guess it just takes time for all the nerves and muscles and tissue to heal. I find that walking helps with the pain, but not too much or else I feel worse than when I started, and swollen and my incision burns, whats that about? I am wishing I would of got a second opinion on vaginal vs abdominal surgery. My clothes don't fit and I am mentally realdy to go back to work, nut physically, look terrible, and don't have any energy to do anything about it.
Any suggestions

SORE INCISION
Hi Katie,
I'm sorry that you're feeling discouraged, but you need to know that you're still very early in recovery. Initial recovery is 6-8 weeks and total healing takes 6 months to a year. You have had a major surgery, and there are countless internal stitches in you that have reattached your uterus' supporting ligaments to other places.
What I'm leading to is that this surgery takes longer to recovery from than a lot of us realize going into it. It requires loads of rest in the early weeks to get the healing off to a good start.
When you get the burning pains and swelling, it is your body telling you it needs to rest. The more you rest lying down, the more this will get under control. When you are up too much, it puts undue pressure on your healing areas.
I know it can be very hard to be patient with this recovery, but there are a lot of sisters here in the same boat, and you can always come here for a pep talk! I was in your shoes only 6 months ago. Remember that you can help the healing process by lots of REST!
Just one more thing, don't feel too bad about having the TAH instead of a TVH. I was scheduled for a TVH and woke of with a TAH because of some difficulties with adhesions. As it turned out, because the Dr. went in abdominally, he could get a better look at everything in there and take care of the problems I had.
I had thought I'd feel really great by 4 weeks...it took about 2 months for me to start feeling more like myself.
My suggestions: Rest more and be patient!
My very best to you...
Linda
