Ovaries and Hot Flashes

Hello Sisters. I have yet another question. I am 7 months post op. I had a TAH and kept my ovaries. Recently, I find that on occassion I have this surge of heat that necessitates me to fan with whatevers available. Are these hotflashes? I guess I'm wondering if you can have your ovaries and still get the hot flashes?

Ovaries and Hot Flashes

This is just my opinion but it sounds like those are hot flashes. I'm 3 weeks postop and kept 1 ovary but have been haing hot flashes. My dr told me the ovary I kept could be shut down right now from surgery trauma and it'll have to adjust to being the only ovary when it starts working! You could be starting natural menopause - I don't know how old you are. Hang in there!

Ovaries and Hot Flashes

Does anyone have any idea how long it could take before an ovary starts working again after surgery? I am 3 1/2 weeks post op and kept my right ovary but have started having a lot of hot flashes. Just wondering what to expect or if there is something I can do about it. I saw my doctor at two weeks and he said I was doing fine and didn't need to come back, so I'm really feeling like I don't have anywhere to go for guidance. Thanks!

Ovaries and Hot Flashes

Thank you. I will be visiting my doctor's soon and will discuss it further. I don't think I've known as much about my body as I've discovered in the past 3 years with the complications I suffered and now after surgery the past 7 months have been very inciteful to say the least.

You hang in there as well!!

Ovaries and Hot Flashes

JoannBen, my physician released me after my two week appointment as well. However, its been 7 months and believe me, I call as often as my situation progresses/changes. You have the right to ask as many questions of your physician as necessary.

I've visited several times post surgery at no additional cost to me because I always preference my appointment with I have concerns related to my surgery and need to discuss with the doctor, please have her call me as soon as possible. After I discuss my concerns if she needs to see me I go in for a visit.

I'm just beginning to have the flashes in my 7th month post op and will be discussing it with my physician to find out what is going on with my ovaries or if this is naturally menopause.

With all we've been through, we deserve a peace of mind. If find that here in this forum, but I always check with my physician(s), this forum helps me to formulate the right questions to ask. Your question deserves and answer from your physician.

Hang in there and I'm pulling for you as well.
