I'm 3 weeks post op but I know I need to start eating right. My problem is Breads, pastries, and did I say Breads! I'm also- at the bored stage, blaws, missing my DH affection
I bet there is someone who can relate....lol well 20 lbs off would be a great way to feel better.

Hiya Shari and welcome! You're still a early in recovery, so really it's the time to concentrate on healing not cutting calories and what not, and making sure you are getting enough protein to help your body heal.

Come on in and join us if you like ... but promise not to fret too much about the scale right now. I don't know about you, but swelly belly could add 5lbs to me on any given day during my recovery!

Hi Shari,

I would like to join too. I gained 15 pounds since my surgery on Jan 10 and I am trying my hardest to get it off. I too am a bread and pastry lover. I love bread so much that I eat plain slices out of the bag. To me there is nothing better than a fresh, soft loaf of merita bread or even better a warm freshly baked loaf from the bakery. Don't even get me started on doughnuts. ha ha

Any suggestions? Sharon

As Bobby says, be careful about dieting while you are still clearly healing - give yourself a bit of time to get over the shock of surgery before you start worrying about the weight.

for bread... I can relate - I love my breads and pasta!!! (and risotto too...sigh).... my solution has been to greatly reduce, but not cut it out completely. It does make a difference. (for me)

I might do better if I cut it all out, but frankly, for me these are some of the pleasures of life. Moderation, ok, elimination - no way

I agree with you moderation is the key...I have never dieted I just cut down and when I exercise I fluctuate 10 lbs or so.

my surgery was 3-2 and i haven't started exercising yet, but i am dealing with the munchies and i need to lose weight, i am 40 lbs overweight, which shocked the daylights out of me when i saw the scale!! I don't feel good about myself and need someone to keep me in line.
Iwas back on the treadmill, walking 2 miles three times a week, and i need better choices on eating!!

I would also like to join in on this too. I have about 40 pds to lose. I am also a breadaholic. I am 3 wks post op and the doc cleared me for exercise today. She said that I'm pretty much healed.
Now its time to get a healthier lifestyle. Luckily dh is also willing to lose some pds so it'll be easier with the food.

I do yoga, aerobics, walking and before surgery I started to do weights.
Walking for me is the easiest cause we have 50 acres that I can roam. Alot of it is uphill so I really get those leg muscles working. For now though I think I'll stick to the flat areas.
I have a yoga tape that concentrates on the lower body area, where I need the most work and so does the aerobic tape I have.
Right now I just have to get the motivation to get up and exercise.
