New and Frustrated, please give me advice

Hi,

My name is Brook and I am 25 years old. I have suffered from Chronic pelvic pain for 7 years. I have had 3 laparascopies and an oopharectomy due to a cyst that basically killed my ovary. I now have 2 more cysts, one of which has grown from 2.8cm to 3.4 cm since last Tuesday. I have an appointment with my gyn tomorrow to discuss a course of action. I have done the birth control, the Lupron and the watchful waiting, the cysts have come back with a vengeance after each round of treatment. I am ready for this to be over and to get my quality of life back. I have 2 beautiful children and I want to be able to play with them again. A " normal" period for me lasts anywhere from 2 weeks to a month and a half. Ovarian cancer runs in my family and my mother had a TAH 5 weeks ago due to massive fibroids. She suffered just as I do all her life. They tell me I am too young for a hyst but I feel I will just have to continue having laps if this goes on. Could someone please give me some advice? I want to live a normal life again and be there for my husband and children....I want a doctor to listen to me...I know my body. Please help quickly.

Thanks,

Brook

Brook,

You need to shop around for a doctor that will listen to you. Make sure you take documentation (your chart notes) to your appointments. Just because this Dr. thinks you are too young, there will be another Dr. that will tell you that there is no need to go through this pain. You have 2 children and have gone through too much.
I went through the same thing; not with cyst; but the same thing with my doctor. I finally went to a female dr. with all of my chart notes, I had two laser surgeries and am on my 3rd treatment of lupron.
Just keep going to a new dr. until you get what you want. You know your body and you have two children.
I hope all goes well.
Take Care
Nikki

to Hyster Sisters! As you go along your journey, you'll find lots of support here whenever you need it.

It sounds like you're going through alot right now, and that's no fun. You have some time, however, to make an informed decision.

I have not dealt with the issues you have, but I am sure other ladies who have will come forth to share their experiences with you.

Hi ((((Brook))))))

I read your post and felt so bad. I can remember back to when I was your age and I cannot imagine having to deal with all of the gyn issues you are dealing with and having small children too!

I'm hoping your Gyn appointment goes well today and that you have come up with a plan of action. If I may make a suggestion. Whenever ovarian cancer runs in the family, it is always wise to consult with a gyn/onc. Although I am sure what you are dealing with are benign cysts, it is a good idea to get the opinion of a gyn/onc. I travel almost 2 hours to see mine, that's how much I believe in them. Your gyn should be able to refer you.

Please post and let us know how your appointment went. We are here for you.....please don't forget that!

Doctor's appointment turned into a laparascopy to remove the two cysts. Only a sliver of my ovary could be saved. I am very confused right now. Please see my new post: Can anyone help me. Thank you all so much for caring. I am just so afraid that this is not over.

Brook
