Hi, Jen
At my DH's suggestion, I booked a girls' weekend just before my trip to the castle - my mom, sister, SIL - at a hotel with pool and hot tub (and bar!). Can't wait. Good luck, Jen.

I'm getting rose tonail polish before surgery if they let me. I am ABSOLUTELY getting a massage 2 days before, for 2 hours if possible. I will also hopefully get a post-surgery massage. Most massage therapists will come to your house for a small extra fee. I am taking Enya tapes to the hospital for relaxation, and a positive thinking tape.

Of course, each hospital (and each doctor, for that matter) is different. Please contact your hospital regarding their practices.

Without getting into a discussion about what new developments are going on in hospitals in the USA, let's keep in mind that if YOUR hospital has a policy about shaving that's the policy you'll be dealing with.
We have had members report their surgery was cancelled because they shaved themselves.
At hystersisters we share experiences - but the bottom line is that we aren't the surgical team and all we can do is say CALL YOUR HOSPITAL. See what their policy is. if you don't like what they are proposing to do, then by all means discuss it with them before hand. But we cannot in good conscience advise anyone to disobey their doctor's/hospital's pre.op instructions.

If nothing else, I would recommend a good pedicure before surgery, because it will be a while before you can comfortably paint your own toenails. I am 6 weeks post op today & feel great, but it is still uncomfortable on my tummy to bend over for long periods, like when I paint my toes.
