What are the chances of cancer after a partcial hyst?

I had a partcial hyst. in april of 03 due to endo. I still have my overies and tubes. I heard about endo cancer?. What is that? And can you develope cancer from endo? I go to the doctor in april for a checkup since my surgery two years ago, and I am not sure they ever started working agian(my overies) as I have no energy and headaches daily. My stomach has grown some in the last few months, (just in my lower stomach) . I am just more curious about what the chances of developing cancer could be for someone who has suffered from endo.
Thank you!

Endo...

Michelle, not sure I can provide a complete answer here but it sounds like you had your hyst due to endometriosis.. endometrial cancer is cancer of the lining of the endometrium. You have no uterus..no lining there.. however.. you may still have endo left in there somewhere...when you had your surgery.. everything they took out was sent to pathology. During surgery.. if anything was found then, they would know and do more extensive surgery (possibly).. or after the final pathology call you in to discuss options if there was any cancer. It sounds like you were all clear.

Now, the possibilities of developing endometrial cancer at a later date in any of the remaining (if there is any) endo is probably low.. discuss your concerns with your doctor. In keeping your ovaries.. you still produce hormones including estrogen. Endo cancer is often caused by unopposed estrogen. Do you have symptoms of endometrial pain or anything? If not, then I'd say the odds of eventually developing endo ca. are not very high. Again, have a nice chat with your doctor about any of these concerns.. sounds like you are in the clear but it's always reassuring to know the facts..
