LAVH, Bladder Sling, Cystocele and Rectocele Repairs
Hi ladies. I want to introduce myself and ask for feedback. I am scheduled for surgery 4/5/05 for LAVH, a bladder sling, Cystocele and Rectocele repair. (If I already have an operating room reserved and recouperation time scheduled, I want it ALL done - I'm not planning on going back!)
All of the above appear to be fairly common. Have any of you had all of these procedures at the same time? What am I looking at in terms of post op? I'm not afraid of pain (part of my problem - the after effects of large babies ), but will I at least feel somewhat mobile fairly soon, or should I resign myself to feeling poorly for the full six weeks or so? I know every woman's recovery is unique, but how did you feel after the six weeks recovery?
Also, I am 51 and my ObGYN said that she recommended removing the ovaries. Everything that I am reading on this website said "if they are still functioning, keep them". She hasn't mentioned the hormonal after effects of ovaries vs. no ovaries, nor has she mentioned if she is recommending HRT either. Help!
Admittedly, I haven't asked my doctors a lot of questions. I guess I am just barely coming out of the shock of it all and hoping for the best.
I have another appointment with the ObGyn (principal surgeon) on the 25th. She was surprised that the Urologist she recommended (he's doing the bladder sling) will be performing the Cystocoele and Rectocoele repairs (something SHE normally does according to her staff). My Pre-Op is scheduled for April 1st.
If you had (or are having) anything similar, I sure would like to hear from you. What questions am I not asking?

LAVH, Bladder Sling, Cystocele and Rectocele Repairs
Hello,
Boy, have you come to the right place.
I am having a LAVH with A & P repairs and something done for my ol' bladder. Not sure yet. Gyn. said he would see once he got in there. Planning on leaving the ovaries. I am 35, so I need them for a while longer and they looked healthy on the transvaginal ultrasound.
Can't answer to many of your questions. I'm sure one of the sisters who have already had surgery will be along soon. Just wanted you to know you weren't alone. And we love questions. Shucks were women we love to talk. (or type, I guess )
