sick before surgery

I went to my family doctor and he said it is allergies. I have been sneezing and and my ears hurt. Does anyone know if they will do surgery with some one will these symptoms? I sure hope so, I do not want to wait anymore. I have my pre op on Monday and surgery on Tuesday.

sick before surgery

Hi aggie4;
I can't speak for your doctor but, I have allergies and they did my surgery. I could not take my allergy medication before my surgery and afterward, I sure did need it!
My eyes were itching like crazy and sneezing is not fun. I have allergy eyedrops to use (prescription) and my nurses told my husband to bring them along and was I ever glad he did!
Just be sure your surgeon knows your situation and any medications you take.
Make sure you follow only your surgeon or pre-op person's instructions.
One more note, I also turned out to be allergic to the morphine. They gave me benadryl in my IV to relieve the itching then took me off the morphine and gave me oxycondone instead. I think that worked better anyway.
Just discuss you concerns with your surgeon and you should be okay!

Best wishes to you!

sick before surgery

Hi, I had the sniffles before my surgery and my dr said that unless I was running a fever that surgery would procede. I wasn't and it did.

Do keep your dr informed - no unpleasant surprises that way.

Best wishes.
