What gives with the research??
I would love to hear your opinions on this one.
After reading paper upon paper about how all this research has been done to tell us that hysterectomy doesn't affect out sex lives or quality of sex, how has this been done.
I find it extremely frustrating that this is allowed to be published in the first place. First of all there has not been an scientific research to back this, and second of all what they are relying on is women answering a few questions at 6, 12 and sometimes 18 months later.
As we know from other posts on Hystersisters it has come to light that some women do feel embarrassed to admit they are having sexual dysfunction after a hyst so don't mention it and sort of 'talk it up'.
This really bugs me to no end because it gives women and the medical community false information. I remember I went to a female gyn and told her that I missed my cervix and wished I had of kept it, she said to me that all the studies have shown this plays no part in sex. Hmmm, I am sitting there saying this to her and she is dismissing me.
Also from other posts on Hystersisters this is really, really common for doctors to do both before hyst and after hyst. We have all heard about the doctor who says 'I have never had this complaint before'.
I just want to know why this is allowed to continue to mislead women.
You may be able to tell I am feeling really angry about this, I am 3 years post op and had no idea of any of this before hand because all that I read didn't seem to happen to me. This in turn made me feel like there was something wrong with me. It was only until reading posts on this site from women who were speaking up about it that I felt the problem was much larger.
Any input or views would be great.
