Question about bladder

Hi everyone: I am 21 days postop-TAH. Things seem to be going well, progressing along to recovery except I have the problem of when I go to the bathroom (pee), I go and everything is fine but I don't think my bladder is emptying fully. After I stand up and sometimes actually leave the bathroom, I can feel leakage. I told my doctor but I don't think she quite understood what I was saying. She thought or thinks it is due to my UTI, for which she was treating at the time with Septra and I have since finished and the frequent trips to the bathroom ceased but then started me on Flagyl for the following....

(I thought I would ask first on here. Needless to say, I must continue to wear a pad, thought I was going to get rid of those things.)

Another thing I mentioned and have read about on some of the posts is an odor. I told my doctor and she said it could be vaginitis and prescribed Flagyl. She did not examine me because I was still pretty sore and she did not want to put me through the pain but asked if there was a fishy odor. I cant actually describe the odor. There is no more discharge or itching. (I had some when I left the hospital for about a week). I dont want to take medications unnecessarily but I am (relunctantly taking the Flagyl which tastes horrible, in hopes of getting rid of this smell).

Anyone else have any of these two problems? Any suggestions? I never had problems with the bathroom before the hyster and I would be so upset if something went wrong and I must have another surgery to correct it. Tell me this is common and will correct itself.

Question about bladder

I am 13 days post op from LSH of uterus and also a bladder sling. I am experiencing the same thing as you - feeling like I am leaking more than I was before but now not really leaking but an almost constant discharge that doesn't seem to fit into internet diagnosable catagory (vaginitis, etc). So I called my doctor and will go in today. Because of my bladder sling, my case is different than yours, however, your post really got me thinking. I will let you know what my doctor says and maybe we can compare and hopefully feel better that we are 'normal'.
Take Care,
Jackie

Question about bladder

Thanks for the well wishes...........
The dr definitely said my discharge and such was not the normal post surgery drip.....so he gave me metrogel and then decided I needed a CT scan of abdomin and pelvis area. I guess the fibroids were so big they moved my cervix around out of place and he thinks it might be not attached to the vagina wall (????) The CT was to make sure there isn't some kind of mass behind the uterus or something. I tried to really pay attention to what he was saying so I could understand and regurgitate but that is what I got. I had to wait several hours for the CT because I wasn't scheduled. I should be the report tomorrow. He said he could fix the tear vaginally (again ?????) as an outpatient, easy procedure if that is all it is.............easy for him to say I think!!!
I must admit I am sad and frustrated about all this but trying to be brave because it could be so much worse. My absolutely wonderful boyfriend is coming over momentarily and I just feel to pieces and want to tell him to stay home because I am yucky....but then it hurts his feelings and then I feel double worse. So now all I am doing is crying. Arrrrrgh. I will post what the CT says and we will go from there.
Thanks again

Question about bladder

Read this it is very informative!!!

Kegals have been recommended to me by my Urologist for leaky bladder problems and for chronic pain during urination to help strengthen those muscles. It is a very common problem!
