Second Opinion Update

Hello Everyone!

I saw a new doc for a second opinion today and I feel so much better. SHe agrees with what my doc has planned at this point and thinks that is the best way to go. Sooo it looks like either dilation of my cervix or a cone biopsy and a tubal on 2/27/01.

The new doc did have an interesting idea to avoid surgery at this point but unfortunately I am not a candidate. Remember the problem is my cervical canal is filled in with scar tissue and doc can't get endocervical cells when he does a pap. Well the consulting dr told me of a fairly new procedure..It would have involved taking RU 486 orally and methyl something or other vaginally to make the cervix dilate and then do the pap. I can't do this because I had a c-section and have a scar on my uterus so there would be the concern of the uterus ruptering.(That is also the concern when you have a baby vaginally after having had a c-section but they can monitor your contractions closer when in labor)

I can't tell you how relieved I am. I tremendous weight has been lifted and I feel comfortable with the decisions my doc and I have made.

Thank you to all of you that offered advice and support! I couldn't have gotten through this without you!

Kim

Peace of mind is a wonderful thing. Thanks for letting us know how things are working out for you, kim. I wish I could make everyone on the pre-op and options board go for second opinions.
