Vaginal Dryness PLEASE HELP!!

Hello Everyone,

I really need some advice here!!!! I am feeling better than I have in years my surgery was Jan 10th 2005. I have read many threads and found lots of helpful info.

I'm taking .9 Premarin Daily in the morning I get Hot flashes very small sometimes at night evry once in a while at work. Never bad enough to make me miserable.

I have a big problem with the vaginal dryness burning itching, my clitoris is very sensitive and sore. I tryed to have sex with DH a couple nights ago I have no pain really inside but my tissues seem so fragile We didn't end up having sex it was a matter of not getting in??? my tissue tore a little It's not like it hasn't happened before. I don't mean to get to graphic But I need help.

We used baby oil at the time as lubricant I also this last week bought some KY personal vaginal moisture that you insert every 2 to 3 days It seems to work pretty good I feel better down there and It's not a white cream it's clear has no perfumes etc.

Anyways my questions The estrogen creams are they white cream??? Messy?? Yucky?? Do you insert them or just apply to the vulva? Testostrone Cream?? Same questions??? I don't really have low libido I want to have sex but the dryness and DH probably needs viagra. The combination is not Helping us. If the KY vaginal moisture works for me do I need to worry about long term vaginal lining problems???

My skin is very sensitive and I wouldn't want to use a cream that irrates my skin . The very best option for me would be if a higher dose of the premarin pill would help me with the vaginal dryness??
Anyone with experience with this???
Are the creams the only thing that works for the vaginal dryness??? I cannot do patches because of my sensitive skin. I was going to call the dr last week but I was gonna try the over the counter stuff first.

It's all pretty expensive too!!! 30.00 mth premarin 30.00 mth for Detrolla Then add some prescription cream??? It's all worth it so far but I want to get the best for the cheapest HAAAAAAAAA!!!
I will try the presciption creams But like I said if I could just take a higher dose of premarin pill that woukd be great I suppose I will call the doc tommorrow But Info from people with the same stuff going on would be greatly appreciated. I would really like to know about all creams premarin pills, OTC stuff etc. I also quit smoking about 5 weeks ago and have gained a few unwanted pounds I have been reading threads on virgin coconut oil???
If anyone knows anymore about that??? One lady said it fixed her vaginal dryness gave her energy etc. She feels better than in years . So I'm also wondering people put the oil on their face or drink it?? Do they apply directly to vulva or does drinking it help with vaginal dryness?

Does testostrone cream help with vaginal dryness or is it pretty much for libido??? So many questions ALL THE ANSWERS I GET WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

Thanks Kayline

Vaginal Dryness PLEASE HELP!!

Hi Kayline Did you read this article on vaginal dryness already?:

vaginal dryness

I think that raising your dose of Premarin may cause other side effects by the time you get a high enough dose to take care of the vaginal dryness problem. You see, there isn't a good blood supply to the vaginal walls, so if you want your systemic HRT (like Premarin pills, or a patch) to treat vaginal dryness as well as the hot flashes, you'll need a pretty high dose. However, estrogen applied directly into the vaginal will help a lot.

The creams work very well (especially Premarin cream) for dryness, but they do tend to be messier than some of the other options. Vagifem is a tiny pill that comes in a thin little applicator; it's placed up in the vagina at bedtime. I've tried it and it causes NO MESS whatsoever. Another mess-free option is Estring, which is a flexible plastic ring that's worn inside the vagina and releases a low dose of estrogen continuously. Some ladies really like Estring and say it's fine to leave it in during intercourse.

My own personal opinion is that I wouldn't use food products or mineral oil or vaseline (or basically anything that isn't specifically intended for vaginal use) in the vagina. It's very easy to upset the delicate pH balance in there, and that can lead to a greater susceptibility to infections, both bacterial and yeast

I can justify using bio-identical estrogen vaginally, since my ovaries used to make it... but my ovaries never made coconut oil (at least not that I know of ).

Testosterone creams are extremely helpful for libido problems for many women, but don't do a whole lot for dryness... that wouldn't be a very efficient solution to the problem.

I hope this helps!

Vaginal Dryness PLEASE HELP!!

Thanks whitetitan I went to the dr. today had to go in and be checked . The dr prescibed me premarin cream. As long as I don't have the itching and burning and pain I don't think if it's messy it will bother me BUT IF it does I can try the vagifem next That sounds pretty good. The Doc also gave me diflucan for yeast infection just in case. At first a couple weeks ago that's what I thought I had But now that I have read many threads in here I realize that its vaginal dryness not yeast. See when I heard about vaginal dryness before my surgery I thought ok I may have problems with sex, and I can use lubricant. I had no idea that it wouldbother me daily. See I only had sex 2 times all year last year Both painful. I've been with dh for 17years. So I'm really excited about getting back to a normal life. I really think as soon as I get this problem taken care of Life may be heaven for me. Thanks for all your help

Hello Again Ladies Thanks so much for all your help. I used premarin cream last night. It Isn't messy at all and I feel completely BETTER !!! No Itching no burning No mess !!! Complete comfort. Actually It's less messy than the ky long lasting moisture and I feel normal again . The KY worked for me for like 1.5 days and then it was right back to the itching and discomfort. I'll see how this goes But as of now I am SOOOOOOOOO!!!! Happy and I feel so much better. Thanks again for all your help everyone.

Vaginal Dryness PLEASE HELP!!

Hey Kayline,

I'm so glad that you are feeling better. I hope you have smooth sailing from now on. All this, the surgery, before the surgery and the healing process has been a roller coaster for me too. I am feeling better too and hopefully things will get back to normal for me as well. I have been with my dh for 15 years and we have been through too much together for me to let all this other stuff get in the way.

Take care of yourself and stay in touch, Sharon

Yes, the premarin cream works well, and I think it is soothing, rather than messy.
