Yes, unfortunately it is. When our hormones are fluctuating for any reason, we can go through swings in temperature like that. Just another little "fact" that most of us were unaware of before it began to happen to us.

CHILLS and menopause???

Yes, I get chills a lot with my symptoms. I will get a warm feeling and then I will get the chill right after it. Sometimes I don't even feel like a warm spell, but I will get the sudden chill. It can be just as annoying and uncomfortable as the hot flashes.

I am sorry you are having these chills. Maybe as your body finds a balance they will start to go away.

CHILLS and menopause???

after reading and hearing alot of women talk about hot flashes, i thought i was the only one who has cold flashes. i am glad to see that i am not. I had my first night sweat about 3 wks ago and i hope i do not have another one for awhile. yuck!!! i do not like to sweat anyway and to wake up drenched was not much fun. i asked my dr. about the cold flashes and she said some women have them instead of the hot flashes. in the summer i guess that could be a good thing. lol.

CHILLS and menopause???

I had extreme swings of chills and hot flashes when I started menopause. The chills always preceded the hot flashes and I'd be huddled under the blankets trying to warm up, then BAM, I'd be in a sweat. Luckily I didn't have to search for a solution for very long - my doctor prescribed Effexor XR 75. It has eliminated the chills completely, and the hot flashes are milder and much reduced in frequency.

Liz,
That is great, You found something that works for you. I have a girlfriend that had a hyst. back in nov. and she started on that same one before surgery, and has had no hot flashes. I was on it, but it made me sick to my stomach, So i am on zoloft now.
But it sure don't do nothing for the flashes, and chill's. I got so hot this morning when i woke up, I got light headed.

CHILLS and menopause???

I drive my 15 year old son crazy because it seems like I'm always cold. I'm sitting here right now with a hoodie on over my pj's. I'm taking Herbal Life Woman's Choice and it is great for hot flashes. It has helped me a lot. I still have them but not as often and as ferocious as they were. There would be days when it would be one right after another. My ears literally burned! But I seem to keep the chill. I guess you can't have it all. I don't want hormones so .....

CHILLS and menopause???

i can't figure out what is going on with me. i have the chills daily and sometimes, actually very few times, will i have a hot flash during the day. but at night... i wake up several times so hot that i feel like i am gonna burst into flames. my ears don't burn and it isn't just upper torso that gets hot, it is all over. is this considered a hot flash. when i say several times i mean at least 4-5 times a night. this is really getting to me becaause i like my sleep. i am not taking anything except vagifem because when i do even on a low dose, i get too much estrogen and then i have a whole other set of problems. i have been on effexor before and cannot and will not EVER take them again. on any antidepressant i break out from head to toe with zits and i get shaky and hateful and so on.... it isn't worth it. anyway thanks for any replies...
