Pain only on one side...

I had read a couple pages back about some of us and pain in only one side -- often just like a stitch in the side.

Right now that's the worst/only of my pains.

My doctor asked me, when I asked her about it, what side of the bed I get up on. And to try the other side for a while (unfortunately or fortunately I switched back to my upstairs bed a couple nights ago and I now get out at the top of the bed--- awkward but my only option, but the pain is better!). She says that pain just on one side like that can be the result of the way we are pushing ourselves up to get out of bed, and that on checking me she felt the pain was mostly muscle guarding.

Just thought I'd put that out there.

And ask ...

If you have this (pain on just one side)

Do you get up on the left or the right side of the bed?
Left or right handed?
Which side is your pain on?

Right handed, I was getting up on the left side of the bed and my pain was on the right.

Pain only on one side...

My pain is on the right side (at the end of my abdominal incision), I am left handed, and I get up by rolling on to my right side and then sitting up. I totally believe it's related to using those muscles more, and I'm going to work on rolling on to my left side for a while!

Pain only on one side...

Hi,
I'm new to this and am recuperating from my hysterectomy... my left side around the incision site has been the most painful and I'm assuming that's normal. That site is the larger one, still bleeding and oozing (I had it checked yesterday). I was told that the left (on me anyway) was the side the uterus was pulled out of (which is waaaay more info than I wanted). So I believe it's normal for the one side to hurt more. That's about all that still bothers me and I'm almost seven weeks out now (and a big baby, I guess!). Anyway, hope I've helped!
Kathy
