surgery cancelled

Hi. Hope someone has some insight. I was scheduled to have the first of three Lupron injections a month ago in preparation of a LVH in May. My blood pressure was high so the doc would not give the shot. I am now on bp medication and normal--okay for surgery. Well, now my timing is all messed up. I have two very big summer events that I just will not miss, therefore, the surgery is definitely in limbo. Doctor has put me on medroxyprogesterone (Provera) in hopes it will help in the meantime. I am now on day 15 of a period that just won't go away. Not heavy anymore, just a nuisance. ( Fibroid tumors are my problem.) I haven't started taking the hormone yet as tomorrow is day 16--the DAY. Anyway, what's the scoop on this hormone? I can just live with this (rather poorly) or take steps to control it. I am 53. I shouldn't be having to deal with this. My sister is 57 and still has a period, but not the problems I do. Yikes.

I am so sorry for the negative tone. Bless you all.

Kathy

(((Kathy))), I am sorry that your surgery has been cancelled. That can't be an easy situation to be in and I can sure understand that you are feeling upset.

I've moved your post here so that you can get some input from others who have experience using Provera before a hysterectomy. Hopefully someone will come along soon to share.

In the meantime, have you looked for information in Resources? The link for Resources is under the Hyster Sisters logo, top/left side of the page.

I hope it all works out for you.
