Hormone Injections

It's been 2 years since my surgery. I had a terrible time finding the right HRT. My Doctor recommended an injection called Depotestidol. It was wonderful. I felt normal again. I wonder if anyone else take this injection. My Doc says the benefits out-weigh the risks.

Hormone Injections

GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!
WHAT ARE THE RISKS? HOW LONG DOES IT LAST? I HAVE BEEN WORRIED ABOUT TAKING A SHOT BECAUSE WHAT IF YOU HAD A BAD REACTION YOU CAN'T JUST TAKE IT AWAY.

Hormone Injections

Hi!
I am one year post hysterectomy and also having a terrible time finding the right HRT. Apparently I am not absorbing the estrogen. I have tried the pills, patches, compounding creams, birth control pills and nothing seems to get my estrodial levels past 100. My Dr. wants to try the estrogen shot next, so please tell me more!!! I am so ready to feel better! Stacy

Hormone Injections

I started with pills, but I was having a reaction to them. My doc mentioned the patch, but I didn't want to do that. So we tried another kind of pill and that one was terrible. At the time the nurses at the Docs office didn't believe me about how I was feeling. They kept telling me I wasn't giving it enough time. You'd think them being women they'd have been a little more compationate about it. I was cranky, gassy, had head aches, couldn't sleep....it was awful. I insisted on seeing my Doc and thank goodness I did because he knew right away what was going on. He said I was having an allergic reaction to the pills. He recommended the shot, Depotestidol, it's estrogen and testosterone. I receive the shot in my hip and we alternate hips each month. The first shot I received around Noon and around 6:00 PM that evening I felt this calm relaxed feeling come over me. It was wonderful and such a relief after feeling like a freak for so long. I have felt great since then. I get a shot every 3 weeks. Sometimes during stressful times like Christmas or Thanksgiving when everything is real busy - my shot runs out quicker than usual, so I just go in earlier.

I haven't heard of anyone having a bad reaction to the shot. The only compaint I hear is it's a pain going to the Dr's office for the shot every three weeks. Sometimes it's not convenient to go to the Doc's office, so occasionally I'll buy a vial of the injection from the Doc and let the nurse at work give my shot.

I love it - I hope you find something that works and maybe the shot is it. Let me know what you decide to do.

depotestostradiol

Hi I recieved this shot 1 week ago and I am miserable. I am not having as many hot flashes, but I am still quite anxious and easily agitated. I still have severe mood swings as well. Now on top of all of that I have sore, enlarged nipples and clitoris and still don't feel like sex because I am so uncomfortable. Not worth it to me. I will not be getting the shot again. It is actually more testosterone then estrogen. Mine was 50mg testosterone/2mg estrogene. I thought it was the opposite and didn't ask enough questions. I do hope it wears off soon.
