LAVH/BSO...do you have any post op bleeding?

Hi Again,

I'm curious as to post-op bleeding. Had LAVH/BSO on 3/15. Ever since the hospital, I have had light pinkish, watery discharge on the pad.

for the last 3 nights...i'll be fine during the day, and then right before bed, I have had bright red spotting. After lying down and sleeping through the night, by morning, it's back to it's pinkishness....

then today, i have had red spotting... it's not heavy..not like a period. I'm not soaking through pads...it's just "there." and it's very freaky and unnerving. It's making me very paranoid to go to the bathroom.

I called the dr's office yesterday and spoke to the nurse. the doc is on vacation. she said, "if you're bleeding like a period...you should go to the ER."

I've read on this site that some sisters have no bleeding. some have had bleeding upon overexertion, and some say, as long as you're not soaking a pad an hour, it's okay.

Just wanted to hear from some of you out there. anyone having the same thing at 2.5 weeks out?

hugs,
anush

LAVH/BSO...do you have any post op bleeding?

Anush,

Hello! Thought you might like to know that I also still have some spotting. Most of the time it's a brownish. Mine happens mostly at night. Guess I should say while I'm getting ready for bed.

I'm not worried over it it's very natural for this.

LAVH/BSO...do you have any post op bleeding?

Anush, I'm 10 weeks out and still having red spotting occasionally. When I talked to the nurse a couple of weeks ago, she said it's not at all unusual to have a bright pink/red discharge and that it's from the stitches dissolving. She also said it can take several weeks for all the stitches to dissolve, so I'm trying to be patient, yet failing miserably!

LAVH/BSO...do you have any post op bleeding?

It's been over a year since my LAVH but I remember bleeding for a very long time. Okay, anything over a few days seemed like a very long time back then. I bled for about 3 weeks, maybe a few days longer. Hang in there, because this is the last bleeding you'll ever do. I'm happy to say have not missed one single period! Good luck!

LAVH/BSO - post op bleeding

I had my LAVH 3/14. My doctor said to expect brown to reddish colored discharge for up to 3 weeks. Today was my first day "really shopping". I went to Target for 2 hrs., had friends visit for a 2 hr. lunch, then ran errands (didn't drive) with my daughter for another 2 hrs. I had a small red discharge (like 1 inch long on the pad) after all of this. Prior to this, I had essentially no discharge, so I assume this was my body's way of saying "slow down". But I've also read about stitches being reabsorbed causing some reddish discharge. The doctor said if I had bright red bleeding similar to a period, that I should call asap. This is not even close.

I, too, had this because of family history.

Seeing pink

I am three weeks post-op. No bleeding ever, but occasionally pink spots on the toilet paper or a slight pink discharge on the underwear. I think these occur after exercise. My doctor said there may be some bleeding of the vaginal cuff and that I may see some sutures as they are absorbed, but so far no sign of that.

Hope this helps. It's so nice to be tossing pads and tampons. I do the happy dance around the trash can.

almost 5 weeks and still...

Hey sisters!
I am almost 5 weeks along and still have occasional spotting. It ranges from brown to light red. I never know when it'll happen, but I am not as concerned as I was at first. I just know that listening to your body say Whoa! stop or slow down...I do! I went back to work 1 day after 4 weeks and that evening at home I spotted a bit. Not enough for a pad, though. UGH! I have given all of my Aunt Flow equipment to my daughters...
I believe this is the best thing I have ever done for myself so far in my life. I am hanging in there! YOU should too! When in doubt, call that friendly neighborhood doctor you hired to do the deed. So far, this whole website has been my dearest friend.
Thank-you ladies!
