testosterone questions

Hi, I'm new to the site and thought I would ask a couple questions. I was prescribed test. from my endricrinologist. She had me take this capsule and divide the powder in 8 different doses. I took a small amount daily. They were 10mg capsules. Well that was really a pain!! so I ordered some test. gel and it is a 2.5% gel. I was told to use a pea size every 5-7 days. I have noticed that I think about sex more often, even had a few dreams, which is a huge difference. I had NO libido before. I took 2 of the capsules, and just started the gel today. So after a month timespan, I will have another blood test. So...anyone out there doing that? Have you noticed a difference and how long did it take, etc. I'm excited that I found thi site and there are "sisters" out there!
Thanks!!!

testosterone questions

Hi seirhtug and welcome! I'm glad you found us.

Does your DR want you to take both the oral and the gel forms of testosterone at the same time? That is quite a lot of testosterone for a woman to be using. I use a 1% testosterone cream - started out nightly, but decreased the frequency after the initial two weeks. Nowadays, after three years, I'm only using it once a week and doing fine.

For me, on just the cream, I noticed an increase in my energy level and a feeling of being more clear-headed after only a few days, and my libido came back at the two week mark.

I'm glad it seems to be helping you.

testosterone

No, sorry I am just doing the gel alone. I felt like that capsule stuff was just too hard to do and I don't think you could get the right amount each time. I never made the little powder pile the same size! My gel is 2.5% and I just used it yesterday for the first time. I worry about the overdose stuff. I guess it's just because it is new to me. I'm really glad that there are people out there using it though and help. I have noticed some change in the libido...at least I think about sex now whereas before I never did. Thanks for replying, it really does help to know you guys are out there! Deb

question

Hi Deb, I am a Deb too....is your Test. cream considered compounded....I am on the vivelle dot, was taking Estratest and with having thinning hair on top wanted to come off of the Estratest but I am finding that I have not desire for sex and that is a real bummer if you know what I mean, but I know that my dr. does not go for the compounding stuff. Any information would be great.....thanks, Deb

testosterone questions

Hey Deb,
Well no, this gel was something that I ordered on a web site that was recommended to me. (They have a Dr. on staff 24/7 to answer questions and all and have been really helpful.) It is not considered compounded though. I told my Dr. about it and she said that she didn't know how to prescribe the correct dosage with what was available to her...so that was how I ended up on that capsule and stuff. ...long story.
I have to admit that I do have an increase in libido. It is small now, but when it was NOTHING anything is good I will have another blood test then to check my levels in a month. Like I said, I have noticed enough that I won't quit taking it.
My estrogen levels were low, but were still within the normal ranges, but I had no testosterone. I think that after 3 weeks of this that I do notice a difference and that it is definately what I needed. I will surely give you any other help that I can offer!
Just let me know.
Deb

testosterone questions

(((Deb))), if your doctor won't prescribe compounded testosterone, you can always ask another doctor. To find a doctor who would be more willing to prescribe it, find a compounding pharmacy and ask them which doctors prescribe hormones for women. You can use the locator feature of the www.iacprx.org website.

Anyone who has a doctor willing to prescribe compounded hormones can ask the compounding pharmacist to guide the doctor in how to write the prescriptions.

I hope this helps!

testosterone cream

Hi Ladies,

My surgery was Jan 14th 2005, and my doc put me on climara (0.1) immediately - but nothing else. I just haven't felt like myself since the hyst ------the estrogen has been taking care of the hot flashes, etc. but I haven't felt like the "old Sue." So when I explained this to him, he suggested Estratest. After researching it, I refused. I wanted to try some testosterone cream. He was not receptive, but when I told him that I would find another doctor, he gave in and worked with my compounding pharmacist to prescribe me some. I have only been using it for 3 days and already I feel better. My thinking is not as 'muddy' and I just have an improved sense of well being. I know that I will probably have to play around with the dosage, but I am really encouraged. So, don't give up hope. Push your doctors to let you try the compounded cream. It's your body!

Good luck to you all,

Sue
