Did my ovaries stop working?
I had a TAH on 3-24-05, kept ovaries. Today I woke up dripping in sweat. What's going on? Are my ovaries in shock or something? If so, when will they start working again? Anyone else w/ similar problem? My doctor said she didn't see anything wrong with my ovaries when she was in there.

Did my ovaries stop working?
Hey Catz,
My Dr said that your uterus supplies your ovaries with some of their blood. When it is removed, your ovaries now have to re-route some of that blood supply and that takes time. I had a couple of drenching nights after day 5, but I am 3wks and 2 days post op and am feeling much better now. I did not think I was going to tolerate that very well. Now I just seem to be a bit on the moody side of things. Kind of weepy and a little cranky. I don't think DH is tolerating that very well right now...
Good Luck

Did my ovaries stop working?
I am one day shy of 5 weeks out (TVH). One ovary was also taken, so I have one left. I have had bunches of night sweats, some hot flashes during the day, so I had some bloodwork done and it showed my LH and FSH levels as "menopausal". I'm hoping the one ovary left starts to kick back in, but I have no idea how long it may take to do that. I have my last post-op exam on April 22, and will have to make some decisions by then regarding HRT.
*sigh* I was SO hoping to not have to deal with all of that.

Did my ovaries stop working?
Hi there,
I had my TAH the day before you, and if it's any consolation I've been woken up twice in the last week drenched in sweat.
My doctor explained beforehand that this could happen, and I think it'll just take a little time for our *shocked* ovaries to settle down.
I hope that's the case anyhow.
Good luck with your recovery.

Did my ovaries stop working?
I am almost 7 weeks post LAVH, and the night sweats are still happening to me. I think I may give my doctor a call tomorrow. I'm pretty sure I'm not ovulating because prior to surgery, ovulation was quite painful for me. Since surgery, I have felt nothing.
How long is this sweating going to last???

Did my ovaries stop working?
I had an LAVH on the 16th. of March. I had the night sweats, and the cold chills. I kept one ovarie, and I'm happy to report the past two nights I had no chills or sweats. I hope that little thing has kicked in. Hang in there and wait and see what happens.
Hope each of you continue to recover smoothly.

Did my ovaries stop working?
I had mine done on the 21st and kept my ovaries, and I've had a couple nights of waking up drenched too. Thought at first that I peed myself! lol
I am also very weepy lately. I've been crying at everything. I watched Father of the Bride 2 today and I bawled like a baby.
I talked to my doc about it, and he said if I'm still having problems at my 6 week check-up we will deal with it then.

Did my ovaries stop working?
Always good to hear I'm not the only one going through this. I'm three weeks post-op and have had night sweats every single night. Sometimes I have to change my nightgown two or three times a night it's so bad! I also kept my ovaries. A reference book I've been reading says that some of the night sweats are due to all the fluids our bodies received during and after surgery (via IV's) But that it should clear up after two weeks. I'm glad the other posts have pointed out that our ovaries might have to overcome shock, etc. So now my plan is to wait until six weeks post-op before I get too concerned. Sure is a bother, though!
