weight loss or weight gain

Hi Everyone,

I am a lady in waiting and I am starting to get nervous. My schedule tah is in june(waiting for a definite date). I would like to have something to look forward to and I wanted to see what everyone has experienced. Can I look forward to weight loss after having all those parts taken out or because your laid up did you have weight gain. I have been working really hard following the south beach diet and to be able to know I should lose more weight and hopefully have a smaller bulge in my belly would be nice. Currently I have a 3 months uteris.

I think each case is different so I don't know if you will get a solid answer. I had TAH 10 wks ago. Prior to surgery I was very physically active - ran 5 days a week. I was size of 4 mos preg. They removed a fibroid size of cantelope weighing 1 1/2 lbs. Initially I lost weight because I had little appetite. But after I stopped the pain pills and got more active my appetite returned. I have gained a few pounds after surgery which has been discouraging. I started walking after 1 month but have only been able to really run this week and it does cause some discomfort. But other women told me they dropped weight after surgery. I hope you will be one of those. If I had any advice, it would be to really start working on those lower abs. I started about 2 months out. My MD said it would make a big difference in recovery. I really believe it did. Having those muscles strong helps hold everything in. Take care you'll be in my prayers. Lynn
