FEMHRT--HEARD OF IT?

FEMHRT is made up of the same hormones as in birth control, just at a really low dose. They're both synthetic but the estrogen is easier to deal with than Premarin and the progestin is easier to deal with than Provera. So, if most of what she's tried is some combination of those two, she might find it a lot better. A few women have been on it who have passed through the boards and I can't remember particular complaints.

The difference between your mother and most of the posts you'll see here is that your mother really has to include a strong progesterone or progestin to make sure her uterine lining doesn't build up. Synthetic progestins are strong and don't break down but they also activate some androgen receptors in your body, so there are more side effects. If FEMHRT doesn't work and if your mother hasn't tried it, she might find Prometrium helps. It's a bio-identical progesterone. Along with bio-identical estrogen, that might be a milder combination.

But she should give the FEMHRT a try. As I said, it seems to be a successful combination for the women who have tried it around here. You can try the search function at the upper right hand part of the page and look for some first-hand experiences with it posted in the past.
