intercourse almost impossible

Hi sisters
I know this subject may seem a bit graphic, but if us ladies can't talk about it here I don't know where else to go.
As most of you know I had the rectocele and enterocele repaired in Jan. I had discomfort during intercourse before the repair, but it has grown worse more and more lately. It hurts on top on the left side, just where it had hurt for months. All of the pain and weird sensations and abdominal pain I've had is on the left side too. Last night my dear DH and I were intiment and tried to have intercourse. My vagina was so swollen up and dried up quickly. It felt like the posterior floor has a small tunnel running through it, but it didn't hurt. The top is where the pain was. I feel right now that I am swelled up like I was before my rectocele was fixed. I also keep feeling a poking and fullness sensation in there. My DH and I couldn't even have intercourse because it hurt me too bad.
I noticed when I feel swelled like this I don't notice any of the stress incontinence. When I don't feel swollen I feel damp inside. Any ideas? Sometimes I also wonder about my ovaries. I used to feel the ovulation pain every month before my hyst. I felt it one month post op, but don't feel it anymore, except where I had a bad pain in the same spot on the left side that lasted for 3 weeks, then all of a sudden it was gone. (last month)
I am going to go ahead and see my GYN Monday. I need to address this issue with him. I know it isn't normal to not be able to have intercourse like this. Something doesn't feel right. My appt. with the colon rectal has been changed to Tuesday instead of Wed. I just hope the 2 different dr's work together to find out what all is going on. I don't have a good feeling about my health at the moment.
Thanks for letting me ramble. you ladies are the best!!!!!

intercourse almost impossible

(((Peggy)))

I am praying that between the two docs they can find out exactly what is going on. I know how frustrating it can be with painful intercourse.
DH and I have not had sex since August because of this and before that it was very few times due to the pain. I never confessed about the pain until August when he finally asked why we never had sex a lot like we used to.
Right now, I don't see the sex thing happening anytime soon for me. I hope in your case that they are able to fix you and figure out the problem.
Good luck and don't forget to keep us updated

Not graphic at all. Just informational.

I am sorry. I know how badly I miss my DH when we aren't able to share intercourse. That's mentally tough.

Lately, its been his fault due to a fungal situation that I so am not willing to catch and he totally gets that. Its been sort of interesting to have the shoe on the other foot, to have me ready willing and able and to have him having the issue. I think its been good for us ... frustrating but good.

I am glad to see you are following up with your gyn.

the pain

Please keep your hopes up-I had a rectocele repair at the same time as my hyst. I was finally cleared for intercourse at 7 weeks post op. The doc warned me it was very tight, and it would probably be uncomfortable. To use lots of lubrication and go slow. He said we needed to keep having intercourse to "loosen and stretch" it a bit.

Weeell, it was more than uncomfortable-it hurt! Tears to my eyes hurt. We did not get through it either. But it did get better.

Even though the sensation was that it hurt up high, the doc showed me on a diagram where it was very tight-it was right near the opening. I couldn't believe it-it was not anywhere near the cuff-it was right at the beginning.

After a few months as I learned to make myself relax and to use lots of lubrication it got better. It is fine now with no problems.

The doc did treat some granulation twice though, so it is good to have them look it over. He did one treatment at 4 weeks and one at 7 weeks.

I am sorry you are going through this-you have been through so much!
