It varies with each doc and hospital but the average is 24 hours - 3 days.

Stay???

I could have gone home the next day, but chose to stay another night because I live an hour and a half from the hospital and I was feeling crummy. So, surgery took 1 and 1/2 hours and I stayed 2 nights. It all depends on your doctor, your surgery and your insurance. If you have a pre-op appt, you could go over that question then. Take care!!

Stay???

My surgery was 2 weeks ago and it took almost 5 hours. My doctor is very young (30) and I am assuming extra meticulous and cautious. I really like her and feel confident she and her assistant did an awesome job. They did have to put in one more probe to hold the intestine while they worked around it.
Anyway, my surgery was early Tuesday AM and I went home Thursday PM. Some people go home the day following surgery, but I had a slight fever and hadn't passed gas at that point. It took me about 32 hours to get the gas moving and that is an important milestone!

Stay???

I stayed for 2 days. My surgery was on Wed morning and I went home Friday morning. Could have gone home on thursday but choose to stay until Friday as my bladder was punctured during surgery and I just felt better staying 1 more day.

My doctor told me I would have the surgery on Tuesday afternoon and go home on Wednesday.

Stay???

Had my LAVH/RSO on this Wed at 9:30 am, stayed overnight and walked in my front door at 11:00 am on Thursday. Resting and sleeping alot, walking around the house and drinking lots of juice and water. Trying to get the bowels moving is the biggest challenge. Maybe tomorrow.

Take Care

Pam
