Cool - Sunny Saturday, April 9 Sunny Saturday, April 9

Morning

What a gloriously sunny day today...and, it was so nice to sleep in a little for me -- usually up at 5:30 a.m.

Had my doctor's appointment Thursday for my back and walked out with 2 prescriptions: pain reliever & physical therapy. I'm scheduled next Monday to start PT - YEAH! This time, I'll continue my exercises after my PT stops. So, looks like I'm going to ease back into exercising... which is making me very happy. Also, had my blood work done & they are testing my thyroid as well. I'm pretty determined that to drop this extra poundage & to tighten up. And a strong back is the first step in the right direction -- again

Food? Well... yesterday I had only a pretzel & cheese crackers all day... and DH & I went out to dinner. I really didn't go overboard but didn't make the BEST choices since I really didn't eat most of the day. I'm food shopping this week and will get back on board with bringing my food with me to work.

Sue55... congrats on a OP day yesterday!!!

Melissa... missed the gyn? or gym? Enjoy your walk today... looks like you have a nice day for it.

Fran... I'm sure your MIL appreciates your visits... and the food you bring her... you have such a good heart!

Nancy... 2 hour ride to DD and back? WOW... you are a great mom!

Desk... doggie parties!! My DD and her friend -- who live in Dallas -- have a business catering doggie parties. They do a pretty good business! Actually, this weekend they are attending an event & had to make 3,000 doggie cookies. Enjoy!!

Well....the brain cells just don't retain that much this early in the morning... but, you are all important & I just wanted to let you know that! Hope everyone has a BEST weekend!

Morning, Sue and Margo and all who read!

Lovely morning here in NID. Bright and sunny.

Thursday's five mile walk was unfortunately made in the wrong pair of shoes resulting in several blisters. Ow ow ow! Needless to say I've had to take it easy since then. I've got to have my feet back in shape by Bloomsday.

Exercise yesterday was two miles walking, five miles riding the stuck bike and my 8MMs. Today will probably be about the same.

Food today = WW cereal with soy for bfast, lunch will be tuna, dinner will probably be DH's lf burgers on wheat buns.

Hope you're all having a loverly OP weekend!

Hi Sandi, Sue and Margo and all the rest of the BEST! Lovely sunny day here as well. I was up early this morning to have some bloodwork done and then DH and I went out for breakfast. Had a very OP Garden Veggie omelette. Then went to an estate sale where we found a nearly new box spring and mattress set for $35! Just what we need for the guest room I am making up in the attic. We will take a nice walk later on this afternoon and I will be OP the rest of the day while drinking my water. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Sunny Saturday, April 9

Hi Sue, Margo, Sandi, Emily and all to come,

It's a beautiful day here as well. I have lots of errands to run. Today is DH's birthday and tomorrow is a belated birthday party for 2 of our DGC.

Yay to Sue55 for staying OP yesterday!

And to Ellen for sticking with the running and going down a dress size. Way to go girl.

Melissa: I think you have Ellen and me mixed up. I only wish I had gone to Outback.

So far food has been water. Which I guess isn't food. Oh well. I'll grab a yogurt before I head out. Lunch will be some Dry Jack cheese on pepper water crackers. Dinner we are going out with friends to celebrate DH's birthday. We are going to a Vietnamese place. They have lots of healthy options.

Have a great day. Emily, Sandi and Margo enjoy your walks and the beautiful weather. Sue, easing back in to exercise is the smart way to go. Hey Sandi what is Bloomsday?

A Good AFternoon BEST Friends

Yep Lynn - I did mix you up with Ellen - sorry! Don't know what's the matter with me lately. I've had since my hyster, but it's really getting bad enough that I'm embarrased about it. I'm off hormones now and wonder if it's making it that much worse.

No hot flashes yet!!! That's a good thing, lol.

Bkft: Went to corner resturant to meet the Task Force. I went early enough to enjoy a bkft someone else cooked, LOL. 1 egg easy over, 1 slice of rye toast, 1 slice of scrapple and hot tea. They brough LOTS of bread, fried potatos (I didn't touch them) and more scrapple than I could eat. So I left most of it.
Lunch: perhaps a salad? Dont' know - I'm not hungry yet.
Dinner: chicken something..... maybe garlic/lime chicken? Chicken/dijon/parm? We'll see what grabs me.

Walk was great. Sunny, warm, but breezy. While it was more a stroll over about 2+1/2 hrs it gave us an opportunity to look at our Main Street/downtown with new eyes, critical eyes, thoughtful eyes. What's being planned is simply marvelous and I'm looking forward to small town America at it's best!

Sue - gyM, gyM, I need to proof read better! Hope the PT helps your back right away. Good luck!

Sandi - poor footies! Yep, need good walking shoes before Bloomsday. Hope they heal just fine.

Hi's to Margo, Lynn, Nancy, Desk, Sharon, and all the others I didn't mention. Have a fun, fantastic Saturday!!

Llyn, Bloomsday is the 12K I'm going to walk/run on May 1st.

Melissa, I'm thinking of permanent bandaids on all of my toes before leaving the house.

Em, wonder if Jorge's food plan is the same one as the one in his 8MM book? I've never done the food part of the plan but I use the book for calorie reference, etc.

Just got back from Home Depot with a whole van full of kitchen cabinets.

We're having some fun now.

Yep...yep...

Whoa, Ya'll - I almost missed it today!

I went out for a morning bike ride with my partner - we were gone for almost two hours! It was very very pretty today and the temperature was extra-nice - almost 80-degrees, not much humidity, sunny, lots of flowers bloomin' -- hope tomorrow is the same! Then came home and cleaned house - lots of energy from the bike ride!

Discovered a great salad at lunch - a chipotle-raspberry glazed chicken breast (skinless, boneless) with spring salad mix -- I scraped off about half of the glaze and it still was tasty -- sort of sweet-hot! I think you could use the raspberry spreadable fruit and some chipotle chili powder and achieve something yummy at home! Spring salad mix is spring salad mix, ya know? You could do all sorts of variations -- add lots of crunchy veggies - this had some shredded carrot, a red bell pepper ring, just for some pizzaz!

I experimented tonight with soba noodles (Japanese buckwheat noodles) with chicken (boneless skinless "tenders") and whatever I could think of to put into it for a stir-fry using miso for a glaze - instead of cornstarch. It was also very good - I put shiattake (found in oriental groceries) mushrooms in it, also... very edible, it was!

I'm getting ready for nighty-nighty when I remembered I hadn't talked to ya'll all day -- too pretty to be on the computer much... Anyhow, tomorrow, I hope we can repeat the long bike ride -- just for variation!

Talked to my elder DS tonite who is in NYC -- hope to go visit him in the next few weeks for a long weekend -- get lots of walking done, weather permitting! They are into fitness and healthy eats, so it should not be a problem... they live in Soho, so there will be lots to do and see... I am not good at sitting still !!

Nighty-night, B.E.S.T. friends! Ya'll sound like you are doing fine today -- for the most part sounds like the sun shone across us all! YEA!
