Overwhelmed and Weepy

I am a baby hyster sister (new to the site) and new to the Prolapse process. My OB-gyne diagnosed me with a rectocele which I sat on (literally) for about 6 months.

The Gyne surgeon now says I also have a possible cystocele and sent me to a Uro-gyne surgeon. After reading other posts, I guess this referral is a good thing, but I am feeling passed around and overwhelmed with information when what I really need is support.

The gyne surgeon told me that the Uro-gyne is really cautious and will want to do a lot of testing before surgury. I know a little about the testing that may be done (cystoscopy, cystogram) but I am scared about the discomfort and humiliation of these tests.

Also, after each pelvic examination, I get really crampy. These are like menstrual cramps, but last longer and are much stronger. I have to take to my bed! My last pelvic exam was yesterday and today I am very weepy if I think too much about the surgery.

Has anyone else had a similar emotional experience?

Thanks for listening!

Overwhelmed and Weepy And Prolapse Issues

Hello Maxit,

I wanted to send you a great big HUG to make you feel better. I know it feels over whelming right now, but take comfort in the knowledge that your doctors are checking everything out to ensure that they provide you with the best care possible!

I went through 4 months of tests and doctors appointments to get approval for my surgery, and I still have a month to wait befor the big day.

Remember your sisters in waiting are here for you.

I'm so sorry you're facing this!

The testing process can be full of anxiety. I hope yours is as quick and easy as possible.

It should give you comfort to know that your doctors are being cautious. Yes, another referral to a specialist is good, but that doesn't mean that you still can't seek out an independent opinion to confirm (or even shed new light) on your situation. Please take your time. You want to be as assured as possible that you and your medical team have come to the best possible conclusion for your health!

All my best to you, and I hope other sisters who have had issues similar to yours will come along and offer some additional help!

Overwhelmed and Weepy And Prolapse Issues

for you!!!

I Literally felt your pain! I had adhesions all over in there, my left tube was kinked badly and the ovary was stuck to both my uterus and upper vagina after my Laporoscapy to check for endo, which they found and destroyed the first time. After about 3 months of no pain, the pain started to come back and soon I was on the high level pain meds again, and by the time they finished farting around with the 9 months of birth control pills, and 6 months of lupron shots that didn't work, they finally decided that it was time I had a hystorectomy. Well at least my GP did. It took HER another four months of constantly harping at my GYN to get me in there. He's the leading Endo/fibroid/etc specialist in this province (and I think she said half of Canada.. not sure) and he knows it. He also insisted that he KNEW my body better then I did and it was all in my head (!!!!) and that I should loose a hundred pounds.. that would help. He put me through sheer agony, pelvic exams every time I went to see him, vaginal ultrasounds, Barium enemas, you name it, he did it. I think he was trying to scare me off.

By the time he finally agreed to everything, I was to the point of actually talking to my GP about being committed into the mental ward for a bit. It was playing on me hard, and every time I was turned away from his office because he was late, and had to rebook again and again, "BUT!! He ordered these tests! Go to blahblah"... I was so heartsick. I just wanted my life back.

You are not alone, sweetie! Not at all! Lean on us, we'll help you get strong again!
