endometrial cancer

Anyone with endometrial cancer - how long from the time you first saw the oncologist until the time you had your hysterectomy scheduled? Thanks

endometrial cancer

My time frame:

- saw oncologist 2/1 (follow up from BC). I mentioned abnormal bleeding, he told me to get to the gyn.
- saw gyn in late Feb (first available appt). He scheduled me for ultrasound & D&C, which occurred the second week in March.
- week following the D&C, got a call that the path report indicated Endrometrial cancer was found, and TAH/SBO was needed. He told me at that time that it was up to me if I wanted to hold off on the surgery for a while, that he didn't think that it would impact the outcome of the surgery. I (of course) didn't want to wait and would have had the surgery the next day if I could! However the first available surgery date was 4/6, so that's when I went in.

Waiting is really hard. I know, particularly after a CA diagnosis, that waiting is especially tough, because you just want to get all that stuff out of there! In reality, although emotionally taxing, delays of weeks probably won't matter. Not that I'm suggesting it - but try not to lose yourself in worry in the interim.

Hang in there!

I had a D&C on 1/24. the next day my gyn called with the pathology report, and gave me the names of two gyn/oncologists. I saw them both the following week. the one that I chose not to use was ready to schedule me for 2/8. the who did the surgery scheduled me for 2/24.

I had my surgery eight days after I first saw my gyn-onc. The day after my initial consultation with him, I had a second gyn-onc consult at Johns Hopkins. However, I decided I wanted to go with the first gyn-onc due to his extensive experience and outstanding reputation within the community.

I received my endometrial cancer diagnosis on 12/8/03 which was a week post office biopsy. My surgery was scheduled and performed on 1/2/04.

endometrial cancer

Hi, my "can't rule out endometrial cancer" DX came in late July and I had surgery less than three weeks later when the first op date came available. FYI, two gyn/oncs told me that if I had a vacation planned in Aug or even in Sept, the surgery could wait.
For me waiting too long would have been difficult not only from the worry but I am the impatient type and prefer to get things done that need to be done asap.

I had a uterine biopsy on 9/20/04...was called with diagnosis on 9/27/04 and was in shock. Started all my testing immediately for surgery with the date for TAH/BSO set for 10/28/04. After I flipped out and had a melt-down, the gyn was able to have surgery moved up to 10/14/05. There was no way I was going to last (mentally) til the end of October. I was disfunctional at work and home. I was relieved to have had it earlier.
