I had a TAH/BSO Nov. 16, 2004 and my stomach has been numb all the way across, now at 5 months it is very tender and sore. Are the nerve endings that were cut working again and is this normal? I asked my PCP and she didn't know.
i am not sure about normal but i think it's not uncommon. i am 9 mth and my incision and surrounding area is still not 100%. its kind of numb and tender if i push on my stomach. looking back to when i was 5 months it is better, but not perfect yet.
I, too, am nearing the nine-month point and still have almost complete numbness in the area between my navel and incision.
Also, when I over do or when one of my grandsons sits on my lap, I can feel it in that area. It becomes very sensitive.
Someone told me it took over a year for their feeling to come back, and some say it never does. It is not really uncomfortable, just somewhat of a nuisance.
My sensation has yet to return to normal, still numb in spots. Tummy is still tender when leaning up against the counter. It seems to be a pretty common concern on these boards. You would think the doctors would be aware of how long it takes to heal. I guess they are done with us at our 6-8 week check out appointment.
I have a friend I met on here, we email each other. She was still having problems 7 months out with stomach pain and swelling. She has been to tons of Dr.s and still doesn't know anything.
I don't know if that helps. I have lost contact with her for about a week now. so if I talk to her. I will tell about your question. Pen
I am almost four months post op and still have that tender feeling in my tummy. Some days are worse than others. If I over work a little then my tummy gets swollen. I never really had a flat tummy but now I look as though I am five months pregnant. My co-workers tease me saying that there is a baby in my tummy.
If anyone finds out how we can get some relief please share it.
