pre-op bloodwork

I have to go for my bloodwork in the morning and it just occured to me that I forgot to ask if I would need to fast! The drs. office is closed so I was wondering if any of you could tell me what you did. I am always a day late....etc.

I don't know what your doctor will have ordered, but if there's no blood sugar or lipid studies (cholesterol, etc.) whether you are fasting or not shouldn't make a difference.

My doctor ordered a CBC (red count, hemoglobin, etc.) and a blood type & screen, that was it.

I didn't have to either. (I did call and ask just to make sure.)

My bloodwork is to be done on Friday the 28th. I have no orders except to be there at the given time. If you were to fast I would think the DR's office would have confirmed that with you today. Hope the post(s) help answer your question.

Normally pre-op bloodwork is a CBC, and for that you don't have to fast.
(and to type and screen in case a transfusion is needed during surgery)
