colon problems

This is really embarrassing - so I'm glad that I can type it and no one can see me. Let me just say first that I have an appointment with a colon and rectal specialist but it's not until May 18th. My TAH is not scheduled yet, but will most likely be the middle of June. About a week after discovering a fibroid tumor the size of a softball, (2nd one...1st one was abdominally removed in 2002, keeping uterus.), I started noticing some changes in bowel habits. First, I noticed that I had really bad gas. I mean - neasuating. I'd made some chili, and I thought it was that, but I haven't had any of that in 3 weeks, and it is still going on. It doesn't matter what or when I eat, I always have gas, and it is disgusting.

The second thing is that at the same time, I started noticing alot of blood in my bowel movements. In the mornings, almost every morning, I have to go #2 right away after I stand up, and it is pretty lose, and there's alot of blood. It seems like maybe it's mucous and blood. I've never had anything like this. I told my GYN/Surgeon about it on my last visit and she is the one who got the appointment with the C & R specialist.

I've always had bowel problems - constipation, then diarrhea. Sometimes the constipation has caused bleeding, but it always has cleared up in a day or so.

I've never had any kind of testing for endometriosis, so I wonder if that can cause symptoms like this. But I would have thought if I had endometriosis, the surgeon who did my surgery in 2002 would have said something.

I'm just freaking out becasue there's so much blood, and I can't see the doctor for another 3 weeks.

Has anybody else had anything like this?

No, I have not had those symptoms...but I would be concerned. Is there any way you could call the specialists office and ask them to move up the appointment or call you if they have a cancellation? My post will bump you up, perhaps other sisters have better insight...good luck.

Hi! I am having similar problems as you are having except for the blood. (I am having surgery in 2 days) I knew that I had endometriosis, but started having bowel problems in Jan. My surgeon is looking for adhesions (caused by endometriosis) on the bowel. It seems that it can cause alot of problems.

Hi,
I was having those problems too, and had a colonoscopy. For me it was the endo going all the way through teh bowel wall.
The gastro dr said other causes that it could have been before I had the testing was colitis or polyps. So maybe it wast that?
I would definetly think the Dr would have told you if you had endo?
Good luck at the Dr's and sorry I can't give you more info! Tiffany
