Post Op Nausea

I had my TVH on 4-25-05..along with a rectocele, cystocele ,fistula repair and a bladder sling placed. I am having issues with nausea and cannot seem to shake it . My pain has been minimal and I am getting around very well considering the extent of surgery I had but sitting here right now I feel blahhhh....help please if you have any tricks besides medication ....thanks

Are you taking pain meds? I know Vicodin makes me nauseous. Soda crackers, ginger (whether in ginger ale or ginger snaps or ginger candy), peppermint tea...all are good for nausea. Perhaps a call to your doctor??? Good luck and hugs to you...hope you feel much better soon.

look up any medications you may be taking...some of the stuff I was taking had nausea as a side effect... I was told to take it with food (percoset).

I was so nauseous too. Came home on Sat. and by Mon. was feeling less nauseous. Chicken broth, crackers definately before you take any pain meds try and have something on your stomach. Try warm Jello...make it according to package instructions and drink it warm it coats the stomach. What ever flavor sounds appealing to you. My mom used to give us this when we were kids sick with the stomach flu. Just small sips of anything to start out. NO diet soda. I

I was so nauseous I called my doctor. He said to take 1/2 my pain meds with 2 Ibuprofen. If it contiunes you should call your Doc.

[color=purple][font=courier new]thanks for the suggestions ...i have checked those unfortunately and have stopped all pain meds except for tylenol because of that ...oh well guess i will have to just hang in there till it goes away ... just one of those chicks that anesthesia does not agree with ...thanks so much for your responses ....:hair:
